And how did our tax code get so convoluted? Yes, Congress did it, but why?

Because of lobbying by multi-nationals that created loopholes for each multi-nations particular needs; oil depreciation allowance for the oil companies, equipment depreciation allowance for agribusiness, the ability to collect profits from sale of goods made in the US and sold to overseas companies from US-based multi-nations and keep those profits overseas, write-offs for moving production facilities overseas, etc.

Caterpillar made 100 billion in 2012 from sales of parts made in the US, sold by US-based staff and shipped overseas from the US But the profits go directly to Switzerland. Nothing illegal done.

The tax code doesn't keep middle- and lower-income people poor. Most people earning less than $30,000 pay little, if any, income tax. Stagnant wages during the past four decades for Middle Class and Lower Class workers have made it more and more difficult to provide a better life, education, etc, for the children of these people. The tax code has nothing to do with it. Do you get that? NOTHING.

The widening gap between what the upper Middle Class and wealthy earn and what middle- and lower-income workers earn is. that's not caused by the tax code-that caused by the focus by multi-nationals on only profits-to hell with what those who help create those profits earn.

When Henry Ford starts looking like a visionary of the social contract between capital and the working class, you know the nation is in trouble.

Flat tax, no deductions, no allowances, would benefit everyone. And it would make the multi-nationals pay their fair share for the benefits that help them make those profits, including using the US military as a security force to make it safe for them to operate unmolested in foreign countries.

And, after writing the post below, you're the last person who should be talking about "slurring what your write." Barely coherent.

You failed to take into account POS taxes. Between local, State and Federal taxes, $.45 of every dollar is tax, food, fuel, utilities, clothing - everything. The rich don't pay POS taxes as they have their corporations buy these things tax exempt. The poor and middle class pay every tax there is and they would need a tremendous increase in income to qualify for most deductions. Income tax is only a very small portion of the taxes collected by the Gov., at all levels.

I agree with the flat tax idea and eliminating ALL deductions, including charitable donations, lobbying ( which is deducted as a business expense ), political donations, advertising and all the others. I would like to see ALL the hidden taxes revealed as well. I think that if people REALLY knew what taxes they were paying, there would be hell to pay.

BE nice to see them revisit donations for religious organizations.

Just read about Kenneth Copland's $30 million "parsonage" in Texas, complete with airstrip, two private jets and two garages holding 14 cars, all luxury models.

All exempt from federal, state and local taxes, including 300 million in local taxes in the past five years.

Same goes with Scientology, with it's fleet of 80 seagoing ships.

Religious organizations should be tax exempt-up to a limit. A $30 million "parsonage" or a fleet of 80 ships deems a little excessive.

Never spelled facts, or any other word, as "fakhets" or wh**ever. Not anywhere I can find in my last 15-20 posts. And even if I did, you never misspell words? Oh, yeah, I forgot, you are never wrong. Never. Just reading that list addressed to "whiny assed liberals" exposes you for who you are. A vile, irrationally angry little man who spews hatred and has an unduly high opinion of himself.

Instead of debating, discussing or engaging in dialogue, you insult. Instead of refuting facts, you denigrate the mental state of those who disagree.

Why don't I answer your posts?-not going to anymore-why try and reason with someone so far beyond reason, answer posts of a bile-filled little man without much to say in the way of rational thought.

You think way too much of yourself. You respond with extreme anger to anyone who challenges your opinions. You post contradictory statements, half t***hs and/or false information and then call others names when they point out these contradictions, half-t***hs or outright falsehoods.

In short, the t***h is not in you.

Your irrational and often incoherent posts have led me to begin to doubt your mental state. Again, your poisoned little mind in your poisoned little head feverishly at work. You apparently have an tenuous hold on reality.

I say this not lightly-it only comes after dozens of poisoned posts aimed at me and others. It's not that I disagree with you-it's the way you respond to those who disagree with you. It's sick and vile.

Get professional help. Then maybe you'll have a less irrationally angry attitude towards others and you'll be able to talk in a civil manner to others who don't agree with you. Until then, good night and good luck.

Don't bother answering, unless it makes you feel good. I'm not answering you anymore-say what you will about me-I don't care. Your posts reveal more about yourself than they do about me or anyone else who incurs your wraith for the crime of disagreeing with you.

Another problem we have is states and local governments are giving huge tax abatements to companies that locate within their areas. Five-10--15 even 20 year abatements are not uncommon.

and when the abatements end? Often the company relocates to another state or municipality with a new set of abatements.

Boeing just received $5 billion in abatements from state and local taxes in Washington state. Who is going to pay those taxes? Regular folks.

So your right-state and local taxes fall largely on the working poor and Middle Class. My local property taxes are like paying close to $400 rent a month despite the fact that I own my own house free and clear.

I'm not sure if it rises to the level of 45 cents on the dollar, but maybe close to 33 cents on the dollar. Maybe when combined with Federal Withholding and SS payroll taxes, which all go into the same pot anyway.

One more reason to move to Vermont where property taxes on the same amount of property are a fraction of what I pay in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey.

NOt at all,,, you asked for proof,, I gave it,,, you ignored, it,, that is why I call you the phoney you are.

And I said also before, "In everything you print there are errors and ommissions,,, that make me know you are wrong"

You ignore them and go on to the next subject,,, but "The way you present things" is to take a single factual piece of info,, twist it into something I didn't say, then claim I "think" something that YOU actually made up, and then blame me for the mistake, and twisted logic that YOU made up....

You: "the democrats didn't start the civil war,,, it was southcarolinians and southerners......" Huh???? Then claimed I was AFU for that belief,,,,, when it isn't a belief

Then you said,,,,"Besides it was over 150 years ago, don't know what it has to do with now,," Then you give a quote from Smeadly Butler, as an indication of what history means to a similar situation,,, so you do get it,,when it supports you,,, but cant seem to wrap your head around it when it doesn't fit your predecided versions of history..

You jump from my statement of Carter cutting the military budgets,,, to "Carter was a Nuke Sub officer....." so he was what ??? Right,,, knew what he was doing,, a military genius???? You don't say,,,, you just trail off into another tangential tirade,,, never addressing the point of him cutting the budget, except that REagan and Bush 1&2 did it too...

That is the problem I have with you,,, and your spelling comes and goes, along with your attention span,,, you are either drugged or drunk,,, like I said, you are the only person I know who slurs his words, while writing,,,(much different than mispelling sometimes) but like we both learned in AA you are trying to hide that fact,,, and cannot,, you cant fool a fooler....but drunks and druggies still continue to try,,, I don't doubt you have some intelligence but it is twisted with l*****ts ideology,, "Everything was ruined by right wingers" Everyone who disagrees with me is a billiouths little s**t, whom I respect, I just make up s**t and disrespect him, then get my worn out old panties in a wad"

So,,, don't respond to any post I write, I don't care and I don't NEED your liberal drivel,,,, but you don't tell me who I can or cant respond to,,,

"So Don't even answer me,,," Is that how you dominate discussion at home? Cause it doesn't work here,,,, you were wanting facts,,,, to dispute your claims, you got them and ignored them,,,, I lose all respect for you,, which granted wasn't much,,, but you cant try to occupy the moral or intellectual high ground, based on lies, made up crap, and l*****t spin,,,, and I am not going to allow you to go on, until you respond to the info you demanded, and I gave..
go back and address your mistakes and claims while drunk or drugged,,, you were wrong,,, and you know it,,, which is the real reason you wont,,

[[lpnmajor - quote]]
Things that used to be done in secret, for fear of public outcry, are now out of the closet. They need not fear the public anymore, because it has become numb to these kinds of things. Wall Street went right back to it's shady dealings and money laundering, after it caused the financial collapse in 2008, and few bothered to protest.

Scandal after scandal, both real and imagined, has simply overwhelmed peoples ability to give a s**t anymore. No one raises an outcry, there are no protests, at least, nothing significant. Here we have the largest industry in the world, right in our own capital, running our own government, while lining their pockets with our own money, and the best people can come up with is - "that's not right".]]

--------------------------------------------------------------
So many times, when people cry out, no one hears except the gays - lesbians----- demanding their RIGHTS.... What ever happened to the RIGHTS of the majorities?

The Backs scream R****T at every turn - do they ever do it to the Mexicans - NO - only to those H**ED W****s. What no one realizes is they do it to themselves... both the GAYS and the B****S by DEMANDING.

The problem with this country, is SEX. Many years ago.. that word was taboo... it was a hushed topic..... What is it now ? Oh, I see.. the reason for it is cause of all the SMUT you see in the movies and on tv... with half naked women and men to show off their bodies. Remember the bathing suits of long ago.... I do... They were certainly not like they are today. Today.. our engines run on nothing but SEX and what pleasures it gives our bodies called CARS of the future...It's one of those commodities advertised on TV you see all the time.... Called 'Pleasures Fit for a King or Queenie...'

This country has become nothing but the Pits of Hell... it will never get better.. it will only get worse.. So you see.. every thing BAD is OUT OF THE CLOSET.... cause it's more desirable than living a dull life now once you've had a taste of that EXCITEMENT.... Remember that old saying... "What you've never had... you'll never miss.... [but]..... What you've had a taste of... you'll always want!!"

Not sure if this is the type of 'OUT OF THE CLOSET' one was referring to.. but it's my way of expressing how I feel of certain things and the road I see this 'country' is going down.

I believe you misunderstood that part, it should have read " you're right, state and local ...". These hidden taxes are irrespective of political ideology, as everyone pays them - except for the rich, who avoid them by using exempt status. Anything from toilet paper to garden mulch can be purchased by their corporations - for their personal use, thus avoiding the taxes the rest of us pay.

Cities, and States are funded largely by sales taxes paid by the poor to middle class. The rich spend their money buying politicians with tax exempt money, then get tax breaks on the money they've paid no taxes on. Which means, that regardless of the tax rates, the poor to middle class bear the brunt of ALL taxes paid. The rich pay no POS taxes, their homes and vehicles and planes and boats are tax deductible as business expenses, so their effective income tax rate averages around 9%.

I could be mistaken (I have been known to be on occasion ) but I was under the impression that items for personal use, in states that have sales tax, must not be taken as a corporate expense. I believe that that is considered fraud. Please correct me if I am wrong. But don't just tell me I a wrong, give me laws and explanations, please.

I'm not sure because sales tax laws vary from state to state. IN NJ, items for personal use are subject to sales tax. I know purchased items used for agricultural production are sales tax exempt, but I'm not sure about exemptions for other businesses.

Corporations, like some individuals, simply purchase needed items in Delaware, a state with no sales tax, an import them to NJ. Although that is illegal, enforcement is nil. I see autos from some businesses registered in DE and used as company cars in NJ. Fraud? I'd like to think so, but enforcement seems to turn a blind eye.

So I guess you'd have to look at each state's sales tax laws0what is subject to the tax, who or what is exempt, enforcement and a few other things.

It's also my guess that the bigger the company, the more complex their tax-avodiance strategies are. Just a guess, but a pretty good one.

no propaganda please wrote:
