WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump reimbursed his personal lawyer for $130,000 in hush money paid to a porn actress days before the 2016 p**********l e******n, Rudy Giuliani, one of Trump's attorneys, said Wednesday, appearing to contradict the president's past claims that he didn't know the source of the money.

During an appearance on Fox News Channel's "Hannity," Giuliani said the money to repay Michael Cohen had been "funneled ... through the law firm and the president repaid it."

Asked if Trump knew about the arrangement, Giuliani said: "He didn't know about the specifics of it, as far as I know. But he did know about the general arrangement, that Michael would take care of things like this, like I take care of things like this for my clients. I don't burden them with every single thing that comes along. These are busy people."

And that is not the worst of it. Giuliani offered a new — and contradictory — explanation for why Trump fired Comey. This is problematic when the goal of Trump’s lawyers is to provide Mueller with a consistent, and legal, explanation for the firing. Early in the interview, Giuliani said that Trump fired James Comey as FBI director because “Comey would not — among other things — say that he wasn’t a target of the investigation.” Giuliani said Trump was “entitled to that.”

Giuliani’s statement not only confirms that Comey was fired because he refused to publicly clear Trump in the Russia investigation, but also directly contradicts two other explanations for Comey’s firing offered by Trump.

According to Giuliani, Trump told NBC’s Lester Holt in an interview shortly after Comey’s firing that “I did it because I felt I had to explain to the American people that their president was not the target of the investigation.”

That is not, however, what Trump told Holt. Trump told Holt that he fired Comey because of his frustration with the existence of the entire Russia investigation, which he believed was an excuse concocted by Democrats who lost the e******n. (Comey was a Republican appointed as FBI director by George W. Bush.)

"And in fact when I decided to just do it I said to myself, I said, 'You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story, it’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an e******n that they should’ve won.'

In the interview with Holt, Trump did not mention Comey’s refusal to state publicly that he was not a target of the investigation.

My lawyer often handles "messy issuers" and I do not always know all the details. I often issue checks to him for his out of pocket expenses. This is not unusual. When your personal wealth is above a certain level, you do not question a $150 to $300 K expense. Once a quarter a breakdown on expenses is given to you for review and to respond to budget planning. I do not make nearly as much as the Trumps did..... This is just to let you know, wealthy people do not think the way an hourly worker does about expenses. I said, when this first broke as shocking news, that the money spent to handle nuisances such as hookers, would not even be considered anything other than paying off a woman guilty of extortion.

That is the most important issues.... really? We still have hundreds of thousands of people who are homeless.
Children who lack needed nutrition and supplies for school. Children who can not pass reading tests and have fallen so far behind other nations in science as well as technology that we should be embarrassed. People being murdered in major cities. A FEMA department that still does a very poor job in responding to disasters. Cities with areas resembling the poorest of nations. Bridges that are ready to collapse and roads needing instant attention. An electric grid that is so far out of date that minor issues cause blackouts. Drugs are no longer a "poor persons' holiday" they are now consumed by the truck load. Our media makes up "t***h" as they go along. National Security issues can be read in tabloids. FBI, NSA, and all the other alphabet organization infringe upon your privacy daily. Wildfires that consume millions of acres each year. Overpriced insurances. Gangs roam towns and cities. Food insecurities and food contamination...... And you worry that Russia may be planning a take over of the USA without any kind of evidence that they have done anything major to harm the e******ns. You do live in a small bubble.

Maybe there were several reasons for Trump firing Comey and you have just identified two. Trump gave one example, his lawyer gave another. Big deal! I would add the performance of Comey in "clearing" Clinton, which does amount to obstruction of justice but on the part of Comey.

Comey is a liar, a t*****r and a weasel. FK Comey. He's going to prison as will McCabe (unless they cooperate in the catching of bigger fish). As will the hag.

The people in the FBI who still have their jobs...Page and Strzok...are snitching and Comey has already indicated he's ready to throw McCabe under the bus.

Your house-of-cards criminal gods are DONE! DONE!

I agree but the only way to do that is have a fool proof identification. But every time one is suggested the Demon-Rats raise hell screening v**er suppression, some cannot afford a I'D card and so on.

There is one sure fire way that will stop v***r f***d, tombstone v**es, illegal criminal aliens v****g. We already have the technology to implement it FINGERPRINTS.

No way to forge them or lose them went cost the v**er a cent. The FIB can identify a person quickly through their computer based fingerprint file.

The same technology can be used to accurately count v**es, reject duplicate v**es and reject v**es not on file (i*****l a***ns as v**ers)

Of course we will never see it for the Demon-Rats will NEVER v**e for it. Oh well one can try to be honest arming criminals.

I agree but to do these things you have to have f**r e******ns to stop abusing the system and letting elected people steal TRILLION of the tax payers money like they did in the last eight years. We need to drain the swamp and get rid of these thieves.

Like they did with drug dealers pass laws to seize all their assets to repay what they stold. Long prison sentences with no early parole for stealing the taxpayer's money.

No more wrist slapping and one dollar fines.

He didn't say he didn't know the source of the money, Cohen tried to say (at one point) that Trump didn't know anything about it.

It's getting hard to keep up with...too many stories and every one gets somebody else in a different kind of legal trouble.

Lets see...

Trump didn't do it at all, it's a made up story
Cohen paid it without Trump's knowledge (that is illegal)
Cohen was paid back (but from where?)
Now Trump paid an attorney who paid Cohen over a few months

This one would have it's dangers, such as is this an attorney who was paid in an ongoing manner for some other work, and this acts as a convenient explanation. It will not be taken at face value, and why would it when it's the fourth or fifth version?

But Trump has his loyal base that sees nothing wrong with this spinning stories until the right one is manufactured. Talk about your making up stories to get out of a pickle. The ludicrous makes perfect sense. Mueller is making things up, this is all a witch hunt.

The problem with seizure laws is that law enforcement agencies keep most assets and money, which becomes it's own type of conflict of interest.

Fingerprint systems has checks and balances on a whole lot of other things too, social security and welfare fraud, among them. You have to use a thumb print to cash a government check at the bank, you have no concept of how much money that would save the social security system alone.

Yes a fingerprint system is expensive, but a fraction of what the fraud is that would be immediately curbed.

Hard b****t, fingerprint ID
