The American Burka

Many westerners are horrified that some conservative Muslim women feel compelled to cover themselves so as to not inspire lust in the men who might encounter them. This ranges from a scarf covering their hair to hijabs and burkas that cover all of their faces and bodies. What we fail to acknowledge is that prude right wing americans force similar constraints on women and girls. A young woman in Florida is a good example, she chose to wear a long sleeved baggy pull over shirt to school and was directed to the school office when an administrator suspected she was not wearing a bra. The attached article outlines the humiliation she suffered at the hands of conservative administrators. http://www.bradenton.com/news/local/article208019229.html
It is unconscionable that in 21st century America women are forced to cover and hide their breasts essentially to avoide distracting men.

What you know about a female wouldn't amount to a speck of dust.

And no one is horrified by a sand gofer wrapped in a burka.

I've seen the dimwitted Muslims wearing that garb in 100 degree weather here in Texas.

My wife and I witnessed one of the i***ts pass out in a Bed, Bath and Beyond after walking across the parking lot from their car.

Your naive attempt to tie this in with the girl and her baggy shirt, is proof of your ignorance.

What a woman wears is her business.

You should concern yourself with educating your indoctrinated callow mind.

And leave women's wear to the females.

Man up and get with the program.

It is difficult to determine if your arrogance exceeds your ignorance or vice versa, either way you are saddled with far too much of both. The point is that if religious dogma is bad, it is bad. And woman often bear the brunt.

Most women do not wear a bra because they are compelled to by society. In fact, all young girls developing appreciate wearing either a sports bra or a regular bra. Not only does it support the developing breast, it reduce pain and discomfort caused by stretched skin and ligaments caused by working out, or even walking in the case of some who are more abundantly developed. A bra prevents injury to the mammary glands. And for the women who are abundantly endowed, ask them how comfortable they are without their bra. We are talking about back pain, something that the extra weight without support delivers to them daily. It is a fact, large breasts put additional stress on the back muscles and without support, those women's shoulders begin to roll, over time, due to the additional weight carried on the chest. A hunch back is very common in older women in countries that do not provide the support to the breast and up until the early 20th century was a problem in the US. And from the photograph of this young woman, she really needs the support of a bra.

Indeed, in this case the school could have handled this case better, and they acknowledged their mistake. Also, the mother of this child should have taken time to explain why wearing a bra would be to her best interest. I think that we expect school employees to raise our children and relieve parents of the responsibility. It is time to put parents back to work as parents. Stop blaming the schools.....

You have no point nor do you have the cognizance to comprehend the world you live in.

The empty space within your cranium allows an easy access for the stupefaction that frequently resides there.

It spills out of there daily as you peck away at your device, posting the most moronic and mundane of topics.

Stop wasting your life being wretched and asinine.

You're absolutely right here. My daughter would have never been allowed to leave the house at that age with headlights shining because I was that age once, and know what boys are thinking. Well, except the ones like Kevyn. I've read rumors about his proclivities that have yet to be proven false, so they must be true.
And nowhere in the article was the political persuasion of anyone involved mentioned.

This is just another example of NAMBLA boy stirring the pot.

Hey Archie... how the heck are you? I have been absent for a time.... working in the field. I will be back in Virginia soon to write my finals....

Anyway, I see the need for a woman to wear proper support. You know, I am a runner... and not overly large in the chest, but I would not be able to run (pain free) without wearing proper support. Although the school could have handled this better, in their defense, they acknowledged their shortcomings. In my humble opinion, we give too much authority and responsibility to schools.

You are right, his article did not go into the political views of the school or the young woman. But, they did say that their decision was based on the school's dress code. Young folks.... well, their hormones are high and she is far from being flat chested.

As for Kevyn.... what can I say. From his posts, I am convinced that he is limp in the wrists. I could be wrong, but that is the impression I get.

You are quite correct in your perception of Kevyn. He admitted to having a husband about three years ago, possibly longer, on OPP.

Hey Penny! We are well around here, mostly. A little sad since one of our four legged furry people went to the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, but he had a good run.

We used to do a lot of horseback activities, and my wife, who has an ample bosom as well as my daughter who is small chested both required sports bras for support. My mother had a breast reduction to help her back problems.
School dress codes are there to keep distractions out. They are a lot, and I mean a LOT more lenient now than they were when we were in school. But they still need to be abided by.
I know that at that age, if a gal built like her showed up with her bright lights shining, every boy in the school would be drooling, and probably embarrassed to stand up from their desks. Something like that can, and will cause a disruption.
