Actually, Texas has rather enlightened concealed carry permits. Had this happened at any place but a "gun-free' zone of the military base, things might have turned out different.

And military bases, or indeed at rear areas of military operations, have always been "firearms free."

When a solider or marine comes out of the field, it behoves brass to take weapons away. Same goes for a US-based military facility. Has been since at least th 1960s and probably long before.

The military trains men (and now women) to react almost without thinking upon facing a threat, real or perceived. It's what keeps a troop alive in the field. Don't stop to determine whether it's a good idea, on whether the target is armed, don't hesitate lest you get k**led first.

that's why the brass designates areas as "free fire" zones where all non-combatant distractions are removed for their own safety.

Now put these same people in a group in an atmosphere where it is supposed to be safe. And have all those people armed. A backfire of an auto or any trigger than results in that instinctual reaction could end in a tragedy. That's why military bases disarm troops.

It's not a "girly law" it's common sense.

Love it or leave, hey? Never heard where carrying a firearm is a "God given right". My God has nothing to do with firearms, although I's a strong believer in Second Amendment rights as I am of the rights given in the other nine.

I've read the "Creature from Jekyll Island" and done other reading on the Federal Reserve system. It should be noted that the founders of the Fed, the Robber Barons from the gilded age of unfettered capitalism, were Republicans to a man. Their idea of a Central Bank to smooth out the bumps in the business cycle was not without precedent in US history, a Central Bank being formed at least twice before.

It should be noted that the major recessions/depressions came after long periods of Republican rule in the White House and Congress (1929 and 2008) and that stagflation attributed to Jimmy Carter actually began years before in the wreckage of Nixon's fiscal policies, including removing the final moves to put dollar from the gold Standard and floating it against other currencies. Had yo owned stocks in the 1970s, you'd know how they didn't so much besides lose value between 1971 and 1979.

And for those who claim the Fed has been printing money in record amounts since 2009 should actually check on the true figures. the Fed usually prints money in the fall to stoke holiday spending and then cut the practice in the New Year. In 2008, the Fed printed record amounts of cash, a record of 20 years standing, anyway, only to have that amount decrease every since. I myself was surprised at looking at the figures. I like most expected to see record running of the presses cracking out piles of Bennies. Apparently not so, according to several sources, including the WSJ's own archives.

You rabid righties should really go beyond your current "Obama's responsible for everything' viewpoint and read history in the fullness thereof. I think you'll find the current state of our nation is:

A-Not really all that bad in the context of history.

and

B-The problems that exist are a result of bi-partisan effort with both parties contributing equally the the clusterf**k that it is.

Oil is base off the dollar and when the dollar falls maybe you will figure it out then, Na I doubt It !!!!!!!!!

Ok; I didn't think so, but just the same, some less-informed folks may have gotten that impression, so I thought a comment would probably be worth while.
