Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks suggested in a radio interview that Republicans are retiring en masse because of assassination fears.

Brooks was speaking on “The Dale Jackson Show” about the first Republican practice the Congressional Baseball Game after last year’s shooting that left Majority Whip Steve Scalise severely injured.

“We have multiple rings of security, plainclothes, uniform, C*****l P****e, other police,” he said. “There was a medical vehicle nearby just in case there was a copycat.”

But Brooks said while there were multiple factors that contributed to a slew of Republicans leaving the House, he suggested fears of violence was a major one.

“One of the things that’s concerning me is the assassination risk may become a factor,” he said.

Brooks referred to the fact many members of the Republican baseball team are retiring, including Sen. Jeff Flake and Reps. Ryan Costello, Pat Meehan, Dennis Ross and Tom Rooney.

“You have to wonder with that kind of disproportionate retirement number whether what happened in June played a factor,” he said.

Brooks also pointed to the fact that in the past month, a man pled guilty to threatening Arizona Rep. Martha McSally and three different people have been arrested for threatening Reps. Scott Taylor and Tom Garrett of Virginia and Frank LoBiondo of New Jersey.

“Notice a trend here?” he said. “I have a congressman who is a friend here who has a three-year old daughter whose daughter was threatened with murder.”

He also said the “socialist Bernie Sanders wing of society” was pushing for a revolution that would lead to Maoist level of violence.

“There are a growing number of l*****ts who believe the way to resolve this is not at the b****t box but through threats and sometimes through violence and assassinations,” he said.

When pressed about his suggestion, Brooks said it was a “possible” factor.

“I don't think any of these people who are retiring would say that, but just looking at the numbers,” he said. “That’s out of whack.”

Well political violence does emanate from the left. Most likely because for the left the end always justifies the means. There is no reason to believe there isn't anything they wouldn't do, including violence

I don't know any body who would assassinate a politician no matter how disliked. . That doesn't mean that such people do exist. . Gabby Giffords was shot by a right winger just sayin

I dunno about that. Look at the loony lefty that shot up the Republican team's baseball practice. And the whacked out lefty that attacked and severely injured Rand Paul while he was doing yard work. And the vicious and repeated attacks on conservatives before, during and after the 2016 e******ns. The left has become so frenzied and vicious (this includes the DNC and company) that they are turning off more intelligent and reasonable people.

That being said, along with the increasingly bizarre and unsustainable programs being promoted by the left, it's looking good for the right in the midterms.

We have plenty of good law on the books to deal with these whacked out i***ts yet we do not enforce them!!
The hell with waiting for something to happen, if anyone makes a threat against any one in office they should be arrested and given jail time!!

Look at the number of threats made against Trump, think of that fisco of a women's march, Madonna or the rappers who called for Trumps death or That despicable Kathy Griffin...Every single one of them should be sitting in jail for at least 10 years and I’m serious they should be.!!

I don’t Care what party affiliation if people threaten them that is enough to arrest them and put them in jail right where they belong!

Freedom of speech doesn’t include threatening other people or calling for their death. Once that starts they have stepped over the boundaries of freedom of speech in my opinion...

I only know about Flake. He would have had a hard time getting elected once again because of his liberal views. He became a part of the swamp and knew he could not get elected again in Arizona.

I guess you have not read what was in the Arizona papers. The Gifford shooter was not right wing or a conservative. That has been shown to be a lie. That was the first thing that the media reported without any justification of that fact. Get a life and read about what the facts are before you post, not just hearsay from the left news agencies.

Great and t***hful post, Linda. People that make threats against anyone should be taken to court and prosecuted to the full extent of the law and when found guilty they should be imprisoned. No threat of violence should be tolerated by anyone or any group.

There was a time when threatening to k**l a President was severely dealt with. If you were overheard in a conversation with a friend or relative, you could go to jail for inappropriate threats. I didn’t agree with some of that but it’s a serious thing when people famous and well known to all of us threaten or suggest the assassination of a
President.
