I went to Montpelier a couple of weeks ago, when our House of reps refused to hold public hearings on S-55, an anti-gun bill. I saw my rep there and even though he has never seen an anti-gun bill that he did not like, and I ran against him in 2014, we had a polite conversation. I asked him why this bill made no mention of the powerful anti-depressants that are so closely linked to these mass shootings and also to the epidemic of suicides among veterans. He hemmed and hawed a bit, but finally admitted that the pharmaceutical industry contributes far more money than NRA ever dreamed of. He also told me that when Vermont has tried to regulate these drugs, that the Federal government stepped in and stopped us! So what might we find if we investigate the NRA? We might find that they train people to be firearm safety instructors. We might find that they sponsor firearm safety courses for adults and children. We might find that they lobby to retain a key part of the Bill of Rights.

As a Democrat, the NEA should be closed down. Education is a local or state matter only..teaching the common principals of reading writing and math fundamentals, plus prep for work in wh**ever your States needs are, ie agriculture, engine repairs, woodworking, metals, leathers, metal molds, construction, computer technologies etc. No State should receive any federal dollars for education or student loans period.....

Thank YOU! I've been shouting this since Reagan was president. DEFUND the dept. of education. 25% per yr. it's all gone in one administration. NEA would be done and over with the first 25%

There is another piece of this puzzle that the public needs to carefully audit; the industry behind the G.E.D. program. It's quite the web of tax dollar deceit.
