Henry Lee the Third. He was the 9th governor of Virginia.. and during the Revolutionary War, he earned the title of "Light-Horse Harry," as a cavalry leader. Promoted to the rank of Colonel.

Only 3 Amendments (13, 14, and 15) were attributed to the War of Northern Aggression.

If there had been no civil war or if it had ended in a stalemate or a southern victory would s***ery still be practiced today?

If you have done any independent study of American history, then you are aware that s***ery was on its way out.
Most of the founding fathers shared a common problem. What to do about the "negro." Indeed, Thomas Jefferson was very outspoken on the issue. Despite what he wrote in the Declaration, he did not think B****s were equal to W****s, noting that “in general, their existence appears to participate more of sensation than reflection.” He hoped s***ery would be abolished some day, but “when freed, he (the Negro) is to be removed beyond the reach of mixture.”

James Madison agreed with Jefferson that the only solution to the race problem was to free the s***es and expel them: “To be consistent with existing and probably unalterable prejudices in the U.S. freed b****s ought to be permanently removed beyond the region occupied by or allotted to a White population.” He proposed that the federal government buy up the entire s***e population and t***sport it overseas. After two terms in office, he served as chief executive of the American Colonization Society, which was established to repatriate B****s.

Benjamin Franklin asked a very sincere question, "Why increase the Sons of Africa, by Planting them in America?"

Even John Jay voiced his opinion, “Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people, a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs."

Now keep in mind, in 1770, 40 percent of White households in Manhattan owned Black s***es, and there were more s***es in the colony of New York than in Georgia. And although I think that New Yorkers are fine individuals, they are for the most part liberals. Even those claiming to be supporters of the Abolition Movement, there was an issue. For they resisted the idea of complete e******y, specifically interracial marriages. There were no fewer than 165 anti-abolition r**ts in the North during the 1820s alone... and at the core was the issue of marriage. So, even they wanted a better solution. And that solution was colonize them.

Henry Ward Beecher, brother of Harriet Beecher Stowe who wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin, expressed the majority view: “Do your duty first to the colored people here; educate them, Christianize them, and then colonize them.”

Henry Clay, when asked the purpose for his group the American Colonization Society responded with “rid our country of a useless and pernicious, if not dangerous portion of the population.” The following prominent Americans were not just members but served as officers of the society: James Madison, Andrew Jackson, Daniel Webster, Stephen Douglas, William Seward, Francis Scott Key, Winfield Scott, John Marshall, and Roger Taney. James Monroe, another President who owned s***es, worked so tirelessly in the cause of “colonization” that the capital of Liberia is named Monrovia in recognition of his efforts.

Our founders were smart and correct on so many issues, so what happened? Liberals happened, and with most things they control, they made a big stinking mess. What they elected to do was make generation after generations of b****s not only very unhappy, but have kept the vast majority of b****s in poverty. Of course they had to first initiate a war that k**led more than 250,000 southern men and boys. Not to mention bankrupting the South. Among other war crimes perpetrated against women and children, not only the white...but the B****s that remained loyal to their homes.

In my opinion, the worst mistake we have made, and this includes exploding the bomb on Japan, was to import Africans. From the start, they were unsuited for a developing nation and of course s***ery was wrong. This begs the question, if they had been repatriated to Africa or given their own lands, would they now be better adjusted and happy?

This was a long reply, but a simple yes or no would have been inadequate. If you want to know more about the myths about s***ery or the Northern Aggression, which was simple extortion by the North on the South, let me know.

One of my favorite authors growing up was Frank Yerby, a black/Seminole/Scots-Irish whose writing spanned from the 40's to the 80's. His first book was the "The Foxes of Harrow", set in the antebellum South. It really was a telling tale, and the fact that it was written by a man of his heritage gives it a unique perspective. Next time any of you are at a garage sale, keep an eye out for this author and give him a try.

I would not say he abandoned his family, the t***h is after the death of George Washington (who was a close friend and advisor) he made some very bad financial decisions and in a short time was broke. He could not pay his debts, so in early 1809 he was carted off to debtor's prison. While in jail, he wrote Memoirs of the War in the Southern Department of the United States. After paying his debt to society, in 1810 he and his wife along with their 6 children moved to Alexandria Virginia. He did die in Cumberland Island, Georgia, in the home of the daughter of his former commander, Nathanael Greene. He was on his way back to Alexandria from the West Indies when he passed away, partly from the beating he received from a mob beating while defending the freedom of the press.

Yerby was a most entertaining author of fiction. He authored about 33 books.... his style made his characters believable. However, his style was not appreciated by the African Americans who denounced his work, In the 1960s he was the target of criticism by black literary critics and activists who charged that his work did not adequately address African America. Some of them contended that he deliberately denied the brutal realities of American r****m that b****s faced in the historical periods his novels portrayed. Others charged that his treatment of many of the African American characters in his novels reflected the dominant anti-black stereotypes of the era. Although Yerby was the first best-selling black novelist, he also became the most maligned because many critics felt his work lacked the appropriate racial consciousness. He denounced his American citizenship and died in Spain.

No worries.

The version of his abandoning his family has been taught in schools from the mid 1980s. Much of history was "adjusted" to placate some groups of people... And that says too much about our educational system.
