Multiple deaths and injuries.......
They were testing the bridge's strength, but did not close the roadway for traffic...big mistake.

Why not? Everything else bad for the last 100 years is fault, isn't it?

When I saw on the news that they were doing a stress test on the bridge while leaving the roadway open to traffic. Sounds like criminal neglect to me.
That was criminal negligence. Someone should be going to prison .

WHY,was a pedestrian bridge 32 feet wide? WHY,did that bridge have a roof on it?,,Why was it made so tall??WHY,use a different (new) way to build a pedestrian bridge? WHY,self cleaning concrete (what the hell is that) just paint the damn bridge every 2 or 3 years, Im NOT an engineer,BUT,I can design a bridge that WONT COLLAPSE.,Using tried and true methods of construction, Something tells me,that the re-inforcing steel, was not there in needed quantities,(or wrong size) somebody should be going to jail...

They should of at least clossed that road down to do their testing. If you are doing testing then you are not sure how everything is going to react. That means for safety you make sure no people are around to get hurt. It is common sense to vacate and are where testing is going on. That way if there is a mishap no one will be injured. That company is going to be facing a very large lawsuit and may go bankrupt because of it.
So far 6 people are confirmed dead...The are expecting death toll to rise......They are planning to charge responsible for this tragedy!!!

It is truly unimaginable. I'm an Engineer and I have never seen anyone test any structure for strength and disregard public safety. Someone made a terrible decision but that person, being a public official, will never be held responsible or lose their Engineering license.

I was a project engineer in the machine tool industry and we never tested a new machine without first testing each and every element of the machine in a dry run and then after everything checked in a dry run did we ever start loading the machine. Even then it was loaded incrementally until we were at full capacity. Thus was a total disregard for human life.
