RAND PAUL VOWS TO BLOCK POMPEO, HASPEL NOMINATIONS

‘These are the crazy neo-conservatives that really have opposed Trump on everything…’ Paul says
Mikael Thalen - MARCH 14, 2018

U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) vowed during a press conference Wednesday to block the nominations of Mike Pompeo to secretary of state and Gina Haspel to CIA director.

“My announcement today is that I will oppose both Pompeo’s nomination and Haspel’s nomination,” Paul said.

The senator told reporters he was perplexed by President Trump’s decision to nominate the pair, who were chosen Tuesday following the firing of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, given their support of policies opposed by Trump during his campaign.

“I think it goes against most of the things that President Trump campaigned on, that the unintended consequences of regime change in Iraq actually led to instability in the Middle East and actually made the conditions worse in the Middle East,” Paul said of Pompeo. “So it perplexes me that he is now nominating for secretary of state someone who has advocated and pushed for regime change in Iran.”

Paul criticized Haspel for both her role in running a secret black site in Thailand during the Bush administration as well as her direct involvement in torture.

Reading a quote attributed to Haspel in which she praised the events during one of her interrogations, Paul accused the nominee of having “joyful glee” while torturing detainees.

“When you read that, sort of the joyful glee at someone who’s being tortured, I find it just amazing that anyone would consider having this woman at the head of the CIA,” Paul said. “My opposition to her is over her direct participation in interrogation and her gleeful enjoyment at the suffering of someone being tortured.”

During a question and answer session, Paul also told reporters that he would not rule out a filibuster to block the nominees.

“People complain sometimes about the filibuster, they complain about trying to obstruct,” Paul added. “I think the debate over whether or not America is a country that is in favor of torture or not is an important one.”

Paul, the first Republican to oppose the nominations, v**ed against Pompeo for CIA director last year for refusing to condemn the torture program.

The senator stated that he continues to support the president and has backed several of his cabinet picks, but called the latest nominations “the wrong kind of message to send the world.”

“I have members of my family who are actively serving the country and I don’t want the message to be that if members of our armed services are captured that since torture’s okay with the Americans its going to be fine to torture Americans when they are captured,” Paul said.

The senator also spoke out against other potential Trump nominees including John Bolton, President George W. Bush’s ambassador to the United Nations.

“These are the crazy neo-conservatives that really have opposed Trump on everything and he’s actually considering and has appointed many of these people to his cabinet,” Paul said.

A date has yet to be set for the pair’s confirmation hearings in the Senate.

What is your expectation? That Trump will be able to undo 60 years of fucking corruption we ignored with all of Washington and the press against him? This is a siege...from the time Trump announced until it's all done...which we're nowhere near.

Trump was the one person who was capable of withstanding the global Establishment ASSAULT!

God used him because he was willing, available (and this is most important) the only one in the field capable of withstanding.

SEE! You have enough information...the TIME is almost gone...we're on the very edge.

I can agree with these points, yes valid.

I know it’s time to mobilize the Patriots and M*****as because Trump can’t do it all alone and they’re most likely going to take him out somehow.

So that’s my expectations going forward and I do see a little happening but not enough yet.

That's only because you're not using all the sources there are out there. Neither am I, but I'm learning where to find them.

You can trust and believe this: The TIMES have sped up. Forget what was except how it relates to what's about to be.

Watch. Abbas is making a big public display about rejecting Trump as a mediator, but this s**t didn't just happen out of the blue.

Everyone who Abbas relies on for money is already on board.

Kushner, who as Trump's son-in-law has big creds in Mideast thinking and Greenblatt spent 7 to 9 months backandforthbackandforthbackandforth asking everyone what they wanted...if you can believe it was that simple, which it was.

Jerusalem was the one issue so Trump took it off the table. They're gonna make peace and the Palestinians are gonna get a homeland and some sweet carrots. Watch and give me a little time. If I'm wrong you can come here, I'll cook a good meal, we'll get stoned and go rock hunting. OK?

Mike Pompeo was on President Trump side from the get go....So Rand Paul better not oppose him...And Ms Haspel saved a lot of lives with her interrogation techniques, plus she would be the first woman ever to become in charge of CIA......Better not oppose her either...

While Rand Paul is bats**t crazy on much of his philosophy I do get a kick out of it when he kicks the Pumpkinfuhrer in the arse. He will join John McCain in tanking both of Trumps appointments and forcing him to find reasonable candidates to head the departments.

When the regional peace deal is signed. It will include a homeland in Judea/Samaria for the Palestinians and they'll keep Gaza. Egypt wants them to occupy the Northern Sinai, too, because it's a security headache for them.

The Saudis and Egyptians both are worried about Iran, so guess whose muscle they want standing in the breach. Ours...and it doesn't hurt to have Israel in the buffer zone either.

Jordan has skin in the game too. Israel is going to dig a canal from the Gulf of Aqaba to the Dead Sea and build a desalination and power plant that will provide water for Jordan and water and power both for the West Bank (the soon-to-be Palestinian homeland).

Well then we’re going to find out soon enough but no matter what the Palestinians will keep launching missiles.

So there will be no real peace in a matter of time.

The Bible says they'll do a peace deal and it also says it won't last.
