Republicans, As we used to say in the navy, stand by for heavy rolls. All hands stand clear of the weather deck. With the defeat of a Republican candidate, Saccone, who should have won his congressional district by a super landslide, but lost to a Democrat, it doesn't look good for the upcoming e******ns. Of course the Republican spin doctors have all kinds of excuses and/or explanations, but the simple t***h is that even conservative Republicans are getting sick and tired of Trump's outrageous and immoral behavior. It's not about his agenda, it's about the way he treats people, his constant lying, his self centered view of the world, his scandalous adultery with a porn queen, and others.
Only his base of cultist, still that believe that the Donald can do no wrong still believe in him. I believe that there are two reasons that the Republicans have not as yet tried to impeach him. The first is that they don't want to split the Republican Party, and the second is that many Republican in Congress and other office holders have tied their future to Trump.
I think it's high time that serious Republicans dump the Trump, and start rebuilding their party based in their principles. They are going to take a thumping in this e******n no matter what they do, but if their is going to be a Republican Party in the future, now is the time to take a stand.

Much of what you say is why I am no longer a Republican but am still a Constitutional Conservative.

LOL. Trump may very well be toxic but this e******n was no indication. Saccone was down 6 to 10 points in every poll until Trump showed up. Republican 💰 flowed in to the race way late because even Republicans thought he was a weak candidate. And lastly, Lamb ran as a pro life, pro gun, pro coal, pro tariff, anti Pelosi Democrat. Be interesting to see if he’s nothing but a liar like most liberal politicians, or a throwback to the almost extinct blue dog Democrats of yesteryear.

The Republican should have won. No doubt at all.

But I wouldn't make too much of it.

The Dems got smart and ran a conservative.
The GOP ran a lousy candidate.
The previous Republican left under a cloud.

JFlorio, This is not a time to go back to the arguments about how the Democrats are liars, and evil doers. I have no doubt that many are. When I was a kid, a local Democratic congressman wanted to pay me to take away handouts being distributed by kids working for the Republican opposition, and beat them up if necessary. Of course I wouldn't do that, and it completely educated me into how dirty politics could be. This is not about some Democratic congressman, this is about a man that is Potus. This guy has his finger on the nuclear button. He is supposed to be the role model for everybody, especially kids. I wouldn't want my child to copy his behavior, would you?
I was raised according to the liberal values that my parents had. Most people get their political ideology from their parents. I have nothing against conservatives, and agree with some of the points that they make. Trump has no ideological beliefs. He changes like the wind. The only thing that doesn't change is his character. He must go if this country is going to get its soul back!

Then why not start a thread about Trump and why you h**e him? This thread was about a mid term e******n I thought. I expanded to thoughts on the candidates. I can think of a lot of role models for kids. Presidents don’t generally come to mind.

Talking about immoral, I just saw where the con man ovommit was using Fusion GPS before the 2012 e******n to surveil Romney and try to get any dirt on him that he could. He also was trying to surveil anyone who opposed his despicable Iranian/terrorist deal by using the intel community to harass anyone who opposed him. Now that is corruption and treasonous. Ovommit deserves the gallows!!

Vernon, Forgetaboutit, as we used to say in NYC. Nobody gives a rats ass about Obama, or the Clintons. THEY ARE HISTORY! I will be more than happy to let future historians be the judge. I think Obama was an excellent POTUS, but thats me. Our big concern now is Trump. I can't think of a single past president that has caused this much chaos, in the White House with the possible e******ns of Grant, Harding and Nixon in US history. As you know, all three were Republicans. I won't bore you with the long, long list of t***sgressions of the Donald, other than his refusal to criticize Putin and his thugs in Russia. Ronald Reagan is turning over in his grave.
Just yesterday he admitted about lying to the PM of Canada. There is a remedy, impeach the SOB before this great republic becomes the worlds largest banana republic.

Trump's biggest lie du jour was last night at a GOP fundraiser in LA; he told his fat cats that the US has a $17 million deficit with Canada, whereas we have a $23 million surplus.

A weak Republican candidate lost by a narrow enough margin that there will almost certainly be a recount. Tempest in a Teacup. I recall a local e******n in which a black Democrat won a seat on the county commission in a county that was 97% white and nearly 80% Republican. I v**ed for the Democrat myself, because I knew him, and knew that his opponent was a no-good son-of-a-b***h.

Not to mention why the seat opened up, and both candidates were basically Republicans.

JFlorio, Since the Republican Party that controls the House of Reps. lets Trump have everything he wants, They have to be held responsible for some of the craziness. This week, the house intel committee said that there was no evidence of collusion between Trump and Putin. They came to this conclusion without the testimony of some of Trumps people that refused to answer questions posed to them, and without the input of the Democrats in that committee. This action on their part shows that they are in Trumps pocket. What really gets me angry is they know better. They put party above country and both will suffer. They are to invested in keeping their nice soft jobs in Congress, and in not splitting the party. Sometimes you just have to take your lumps, do the right thing and move on with your principles in tact In any case, they have to take responsibility for their support of the unsupportable!
