A 43 inch HDTV cost me $229.00 at Best Buy. Do you think a tariff on steel will increase the price?

You bet it will. The reason for these trade deals is to keep the cost of goods to US consumers as low as possible. The idea is to make a lack of wage growth less painful by making the cost of goods lower. Ask yourself what the cost of that 43 inch HDTV would be if made in the USA . $2290.00 perhaps.

I spent $21 more, and got a 55 inch.

Lol There isn’t any steel in a tv anymore ,it’s all in the tv Stand. The reason the T.V.would cost $2,290 is because of unions.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. My son has a 65 inch in his living room. It's like sitting on the front row at the movie theatre. It's almost too much!

Drama Queen.

You were all upset about corporate taxes on American companies going down.

Now you're all pissy when taxes on foreign corporations go up.

It's almost like you really really h**e America.

No, the cost of steel wouldn't but when retailers get a chance to raise prices don't be surprised if you see all prices going up...

No, we just h**e high prices. If you guys love them so much why were you ever behind free trade to begin with? Just think of all the millions of good solid union jobs you destroyed with that attitude...

My son tried to give me his and I wouldn't take it. I told him in his apartment it would be a bit too much but he wouldn't believe me. Well, this will give him a chance for his to keep saying, yep, dad was right, yep dad was right, over and over--serves him right....

Prices of all products will increase with tarrifs. It will hurt the low income consumer most. As Charlie Koch says it makes no sense letting people keep their income with a tax cut, but taking it aaway with tarrifs.

The title of the thread was about steel. Did you ever buy a sawblade, or pair of bolt cutters made with Chinese steel for cheap? Well, you get what you pay for. I'd pay more for tools made from quality steel any day. I'm not sure how your TV figures into this, but that's just me.

So you were against lower taxes on American companies but you support lower taxes for foreign companies.

Progs' Anti-Americanism rears its ugly head again
