Cannot argue the point. We can and should work our butts off to make a change, make a difference come November. Trump needs a 'filibuster proof' Senate and he will 'really' get things done. Maybe it's out of the question, but I'm not so sure. the dims are bankrupt.....with ideas and money. They have no leadership to speak of....except for a guy who 'swears' and a guy big on "Sharia Law". Wow! ~what a team. The perfect plan would be to get close 1000 people willing to work for almost a year, putting a plan together. Find people running who are on the same page as 'the big guy'...and I don't mean 70%. they are either 'all in' or forget it. The Romney-types aren't going to cut it....and so many more.

Don't blame Congress alone. Blame also the local government in your states or cities.
All families must get involved.
There must have local policies that protect the youth of their cities.
1. Strict enforcement of drug control. No marijuana, must be allowed. That starts addictive habits of kids.
2. Schools strict enforcement behavior, requiring all kids follow guidelines.
3. Schools and parents must have regular input with teachers how their kids are behaving.
4. Kids must be required to perform academic standards of learning in order to graduate.
5. Love and respect among the children must be instituted. The best source of that is the family involvement with strong faith in God. Because God is love. Children learn from that when the parents of the family focus on discipline and love for God. It is hard for one parents, especially if that parent has many children with no father. This is the culture now previaling in our society, reasons why kids become social problems.

With the demand, Congress must right away pass a law limiting this owning of assault weapons.
Don't blame the president alone. The president could not watch 24 hours what have been happening. That is why there are branches of government who are immediately responsible for these activities. FBI is the department that must monitor all these criminal activities.

But perhaps there are so many of them. I think the government must start banning
all automatic weapons.
Don't allow kids 20 years and below to have personal guns.
Don't allow kids who have mental problems or past mental problems to have guns. Very strict verification of people buying guns. Require time to verify everything about the purpose why he needs to have guns, with past and future plans what to do with guns.
Young men 20 years or older with no prior parental guidance must not be allowed to ahve guns.
Drugs must be the number one consideration to follow and monitor on the mental state of the person owning guns. Must never be allowed to own one.
Schools must have secured walls around, with one entrance only where security guards are ready to stop bad people.
Place metal detectors on all school building entrances.
Security on schools must be added.
Teachers must be vigilant for any a******l behavior of students.
When student is suspended or terminated, that student must be monitored, and must not be allowed to have guns. Require compliance and require medical examination and treatment.
Parents and teachers must keep tract of their student's performance and behavior.

Starting with the school shooter in Virginia, who stopped to reload in the classroom, why haven't students been trained to throw desks and chairs at these maniacs? And once having subdued the nut use the chairs and desks to beat the hell of of him.

Desks, chairs ,books, marble book ends, brief cases, etc. are all potential weapons and should be used to unbalance and overpower these insane assailants.

While the above deals with the immediate problem a longer term solution might be to re-institute the draft.

Had this been in place this shooter might have been identified as a potential menace as early as the reception center or certainly during his tour of duty, given the extensive testing employed by all branches of the military.

Requiring all 18 year olds to serve 6 months or a year of military service would help to give them a sense of 'giving back' to the nation; enhancing their feeling of self respect; unting the mother's apron strings (see helicopter moms); self-reliance; experiencing the traditional mark of a free man (keeping and bearing arms); and lastly, learning about other peoples and disciplines as well as offering educational and career paths.

No law can prevent the next lunatic attack but recognizing that everyday objects can also serve as effective weapons coupled with real life training in their use should help to mitigate the damage of the next attack.
