I'm a septuagenarian, had I not dropped out of high school, along with other problems, I would have graduated in 1956. Actually, I was expelled, for being a constant troublemaker. Fist fights, skippin' school, you name it. My father taught me the fundamentals of fighting at an early age.
Never weighing over 150 pounds, while in school, I would tackle anyone of any size if they presented a challenge. It was drummed into my head that having one's ass whipped was far better than being known as a coward. However, I wasn't unique in that sense, for that was the general mindset of boys and young men of that time period.
Plus, the concept that it's someone else's job to protect one from being bullied was as foreign as boys using girls bathrooms, and vice-versa would have been!
Some of my teachers liked me and some didn't, the ones that didn't, I could give as good as I got. Which, of course, led to being eventually kicked out of school.
In view of the volatile exchanges, I often found myself in, with both fellow students and teachers, never once did I consider getting a gun and k*****g anyone.
However, determining who and what is to blame for the present climate of school k*****gs, is beyond my comprehension and pay grade. Today, a caller to the Rush Limbaugh radio show, made the point that, in view of calls for more gun control, the weapon to be used in the next school shooting is already in the hands of the future shooter. A prescient prediction? Rush thought so!
