Not sure 'bout that, Arch. Frostie is an okra eating son-of-a-gun, from what I recall.

Darn, it seems I have missed much of the goodness of life... NO, never had Okra except as a bite in the garden..

I don't know about pickled okra but I used as a teen ager and early twenties go fishing in Minnesota up by Grand Marais Minnesota. At least that was far enough north at that time to be far away from the stupids in Minneapolis. But that was fifty plus years ago.

Very fine area indeed...

You're right, Arch. I remember Tom being involved as a lover of okra, and am now unsure about Frostie's involvement in the conversation.

Get some fresh caught walleye and flour it and then pan fry it in bacon grease then have some fried potatoes and homemade baked beans and you have the fixins for a king. That is what is labeled as a shore lunch or dinner depending on the time of day. Also fresh caught trout floured and fried with the homemade baked beans and fried potatoes again a lunch fit for a King. No better eating anywhere on earth for sure.

Oh, now I am getting hungry again already..

Well, when he shows back up here, we'll find out, I guess. I, for one won't be adverse to sharing the best sources of Texas pickled okra with him.

I remember both Silver Bay and Grand Marais, but not the specifics of each, as there were so many of the coastal towns that we stopped in for a look-see. I did enjoy touring the lighthouses along the north coast, and was caught off guard by the size and magnitude of Lake Superior. My wife & I collect went beach-combing, collecting quite a few beautiful stones that remain in our motor home. Yes, I have both caught and eaten bass & perch, but prefer catfish. As my avatar attests, I too, live in central Texas just off the shores of Lake Whitney.

Lake Whitney is directly south of Azel/Fort Worth, about 90 miles as the crow flies. BTW, I visited the north shore of Minnesota about 6-7 years ago, just prior to retiring to Lake Whitney. Beautiful up there.

I'll net that you even have trout streams down there in Texas. Smallmouth bass fishing is good as well in deep lakes and small streams and they are very tasty fish as well. They are fun to catch and put up a good fight. Large mouth bass are also fun to catch sas well. As far as walleyes are concerned if you all have a mayfly hatch down in Texas walleyes will feed on the surface of the lake and suck in the mayflies. If you have a good fly rod you can by an artificial mayfly and go out in the evening ang catch walleye. Up in Minnesota we could catch our limit in as little as a half hour. Just bring the walleye into the boat and break its neck and get right back out fishing.

Lake Fork, just northwest of Tyler, if not the best bass fishing in the nation, certainly is known as the best in Texas, to my knowledge. I have heard that the vast majority of Texas lunkers (large-mouth bassover 13 lbs.) are caught in Lake Fork.
