It seems to me that perhaps President Trump is asking for as much as he is offering.

He wants an end to chain migration, that is a must do.

He wants an end to the diversity lottery, that too is a worthwhile objective.

He wants an extended period of 10 to 12 years to become a citizen, dependent upon good behavior.

He wants the money appropriated to build the wall, not just worthless democratic promises.

If he gets all of that, it may be a good deal, but the democrats will never buy it.

However, at this point he's still just "cutting bait", we will soon see just what he's really fishing for.

I can see no reason why these individuals should ever be granted U.S. citizenship.

They are all aliens, citizens of other nations. They should be offered no more than

the same legal status afforded any other registered aliens, dependent upon good behavior.

No citizenship, ever, for anyone here in violation of our i*********n l*ws.

The same for anchor babies, if their parents had no legal status here, then they

should be considered citizens of their parents home country (s).

I think you are right.. if Schummer forces a shut down again (which i dont think he will do) then all offers made about DACA get shut down too..

They are afraid to run with that angel this time after they saw Trump will let it shutdown.. Kind of takes their advantage away now...

They will run it right to the last day and then v**e.. In the interm they will haggle for every little thing so they look good with wh**ever the deal is....Trump knows he's got to givd something for the dems to save face...

lindajoy, I also have thought of another Democratic ulterior motive. It's so evil I didn't think of it before. I can see where the Dem's won't do anything until deportations start to take place. Then use all the chaos to their advantage and fire up their base with all their stupid comments about the poor children. We already know they do not care about the personal well being of these people. They just want to have a v****g block.

You would think they know this and but for Trump letting everything out forcing motives and action by Congress they are absolute wimps!!

Gatsby, I agree with you. The birthright citizenship (anchor baby) policy is something we, desperately, need changed. It has led to so many other issues, especially a REASON for so many Mexican i******s being here. They know, the whole world knows, that if they can just get here, by hook or crook, and have a baby citizen, the chances of being made to leave, EVER, are slim to none. And then, there are the enormous benefits they accrue, legally, due to that anchor baby. Changing this one law could have a positive effect on other aspects of immigration.
