Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) is known as the ‘bulldog’ on Capitol Hill — and in a recent interview with Fox’s Martha MacCallum, his no-nonsense demeanor hadn’t changed.

Gowdy was critical of the FBI’s initial report blaming technical issues as the reason they had mysteriously “failed to preserve” five months worth of text messages between disgraced FBI investigator Peter Strzok and his mistress, Justice Department lawyer Lisa Page. Gowdy appeared to suggest the texts could have been intentionally deleted, telling Fox News on Monday that he saw “a text about not keeping texts.”
Too Much Coincidence to be True

To this point, revealing text messages between Strzok and Page have been released in batches, with each group more shocking than the last.

But when the FBI suddenly claimed that it “failed to preserve” texts between the two for a five-month period between December 2016 and May 2017 — and blamed updates on their agency-issued Samsung phones for this — Gowdy didn’t buy it.

The Justice Department claimed in a letter to Congress earlier this month that its “technical system for retaining text messages sent and received on FBI mobile devices failed to preserve text messages for Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page from Dec. 14, 2016 to approximately May 17, 2017.” The letter continued:

[M]any FBI-provided Samsung 5 mobile devices did not capture or store text messages due to misconfiguration issues related to rollouts, provisioning, and software upgrades that conflicted with the FBI’s collection capabilities. The result was that data that should have been automatically collected and retained for long-term storage and retrieval was not collected.

But for Gowdy, this was too much of a coincidence: the text message blackout conveniently included the time of t***sition between the former Barack Obama administration and the current presidency of Donald Trump, and miraculously ended the day Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel in the investigation into the Trump team’s alleged ties with Russia — a probe that even Strzok admitted had nothing to it.

The South Carolina representative also pointed out to MacCallum that he and another Congressman had seen texts between the pair in which they discussed hiding their texts:

Lay aside this glaring five-month gap in text that the world’s premier agency somehow missed. What Johnny [Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas)] and I saw today was a text about not keeping texts. We saw more manifest bias against President Trump all the way through the e******n into t***sition.

Ratcliffe, who appeared on Fox with Gowdy, agreed that the “strange coincidences” are difficult to believe.

He told MacCallum:

It’s possible that these these messages that are missing, perhaps they really were lost, perhaps it is another strange coincidence. The problem, Martha, is…it makes it harder and harder for us to explain away one really strange coincidence after another.

The Texts Reappear

Since this Monday interview, the Justice Department has announced it has recovered texts between Strzok and Page sent during the five month period. Inspector General Michael Horowitz announced that there is an “ongoing” effort to recover “any additional text messages” between the DOJ employees, copies of which will be provided to the appropriate leadership as needed.

But at the center of the firestorm are the texts that appear to show Strzok and Page as actively conspiring with other top officials to not only allow Hillary Clinton to walk away from the consequences of her email scandal, but also to help get her elected; the lovers even mentioned an “insurance policy” in the case of a Trump presidency.

Gowdy and fellow Republicans are actively working to uncover the totality of the attempt to prevent the e******n of President Trump — and the later goal to remove him from office. At least some on Capitol Hill have America’s best interest in mind.

HI all. I read an article today that stated that the actual goal from the very beginning was not any of the BS tha the MSM and Democrats at all. The actual goal was the ultimate impeachment of President Trump. So the whole thing about collusion with the Russians was actually a cover for the real intention of impeachment. All of this time it was spread that they were trying to find a crime is all BULLS**T! Think about it. Many lawyers which also included Turely, Napalitano, Judicial Watch and Greg Jarrett of FOX have come out and specifically stated that the only time a a special council is ever used is when an ACTUAL CRIME HAS BEEN DONE, Not looking for a crime as whats been happening.

This the guy who used a sheet of papper with half the words blacked out to grill Clinton for 2 years only to exonerate her.
And when the FBI was asked if it could declassifie more of it
We're told none of it was classified! Gowdy had blacked it out himself.
And when the letter was read it would give the reader no reason to expect a crime had been comited.
Another guy that needs to go

I would like to know why the FBI, a player in all of this is left investigating it!! True conflict of interest and all they are going to do is things like losing Pertinent emails or Texas that substantiate what took place...They are not investigating anyone other than covering their own asses for what they’ve done...The mockery to the citizens of the United States is absolutely flabbergasting and completely d********g!

Good Evening byron,

This whole mess is better than any fictional spy book you could ever buy and I’m sure someone is writing a book as it unfolds!

Sheriff Joe is an interesting mix coming back into the play of things..He could without doubt shake up some people on that criminal hill especially being a new Senator who supports Trump ... I like the challenge of it... !!!

Sessions is the one who should be calling for a special prosecutor now, not later!! I am not very pleased with him and think I totally misjudged his bull dog mentality I thought he had... I did have occassion to speak with someone who resides n Alabama who basically implied Sessions takes a low keyed position while he goes about taking care of business.. I sure hope he’s right!
