I would trim the praise a bit to:

Funny & talented comedian.

In all t***h I have no memory of seeing him before.

I would say in the ranks of comedian he is well worth watching.

I'll take Mel Brooks over all of the latest pc comics...
a little irreverent. ..but not blasphemy. .. just funny, silly ironic & the uniquely unrestrainable Mel Brooks the way he was and still is...bless him.

He was an Irishman living in London. Note his shows are produced by BBC.

I just completed a book, "Ireland" by Frank Delaney. It is about a storyteller; an occupation tht preceded newspapers and each visit drew the neighbors for miles around.
During my reading, I noted that there are many Irish comedians and that they all have a very entertaining ability for speech and the English language. Ex.: Bill Maher. Colbert. I wonder where the use of limericks came from. Would you consider it Limerick County in Ireland? They all seem to have a certain style that, I believe, comes from the original Irish language. Could it be in their DNA?

I don't seem to be able to find Mel Brooks funny. His first film was humorous and then he screwed up the ending. Looked like he didn't know how to end it and threw in some slapstick.

Comedian's have a unique way of looking at things, that are happing around us.
They are unafraid to say what they mean.
