YES...You May Pay More for Medication Under the ACA

Everytime anyone post any type of message suggesting that elders and others will pay more for prescriptions many individuals state, with great authority, that such is untrue.

Buried deep within the 2,409 pages of Obamacare, is a hidden rule in section 1302 that states that “all insurance carriers are only required to cover 1 type of prescription drug for each illness/disease”.

So what happens when someone needs more than one medication for the problem? Can the insurance company deny the coverage? Does the patient have to pay for any additional medications? I have great insurance, but Monday I will be hospitalized for at least two weeks. Then I have to have a complete body wash, complete t***sfusion. Then I will be on 3 different medications for one year. Even though I have private insurance, I was told that they have to go by the new rules of Obamacare.

Best of luck with your hospital stay. 1 week is the longest I've had to stay, and I was out of my mind by the time I got out. When do you go in? You'll be in my prayers.

You may be in for a shock on your meds. I'm on three for COPD. One med is on the approved list, the other 2 are not. There are 2 medicines on the approved list and they combine both of mine into one. I have side effects from both of them. Fortunately they are not overly expensive by normal standards, but they have been going up for the last years. I don't know how much of this is due to the ACA and how much is just insurance greed. Three years ago I paid $15 for one that I now pay $55 for.

Have faith.

It is not as bad as it sounds. Okay, so it looks like I may have a huge bill for the meds. But, I have great insurance and I am covered under the VA as a veteran. Perhaps it will not be that bad.

Thank you for your prayers. That means a lot to me. Everything will be fine and I will be back before anyone can miss me. I am addicted to OPP; love the interaction of the people. Some of the name calling gets old, but so many people and their opinions! Besides that, I met you and you are a fine person!

I provided a direct quote and you provided the entire PDF of 2400 pages of the ACA as opposed to any quote from the ACA refuting my comment.

By the way, I am actually full of crab cakes, scalloped potatoes and a lovely mixed green salad this evening. Perhaps it was your dinner that filled you inappropriately.
