The Blindness of Denial & Deniers

Not that long ago, I ran across a quote attributed to George Croly, the Irish-born poet, novelist, historian and Angelican priest. I believe that it speaks to a large majority of people...to include many of us on OPP. However, most would likely say that it is true of others without conceding that it probably applies to themselves, also.

"There are few things more singular than the blindness which, in matters of the highest importance to ourselves, often hides the t***h that is plain as noon to all other eyes."

Great quote and unfortunately so very true for all of us at one time or another, or for most of our time unless we make an effort to change our outlook.

Very true. I have been guilty as charged. As I age, I am trying to be better. The best you can do.

And, there are others that just flat refuse to acknowledge and accept the t***h.

I think this is just part of the human condition. I agree we should always strive to never lie to ourselves, but we can never be 100% successful in that endeavor. Part of being human.
