Progressives are elitists who think they need to control everyone because people are too stupid to live their own lives, and it's fairly obvious that a lot of people think they are too stupid to control their lives, and are more than willing to turn themselves over to be serfs as long as they enough to get by and get to see those they envy being harmed

Progressives h**e nationalism! They want a one world government where everyone except the political and financial elite are equally poor and malleable, but that cannot be accomplished when one, or a few nations are economically and militarily dominant. Hence the seemingly insane economic policy we've adopted, one which bleeds our money and jobs to other nations. It's insane if a strong, independent nation is the goal, but quite logical if a one world government is the goal.

You are right on target. They believe they are smarter than everyone else but they lack wisdom. They believe their path is so right when it is so wrong and will lead to destruction. No country has ever remained great under unrestrained liberalism.

There will never be a scenario like that in America. It is true however-- low wages and no benifits cause people to go on food stamps housing assistance etc. Give people decent pay for a hard days work things might get better. Funny how the ones who pay employees chicken feed also Gripe about people getting assistance The own the rental houses and charge unaffordable rates to the poor.

Perhaps the best solution is to provide homes for welfare recipients or those making minimum wage?

I'm well aware of section 8 housing, we have several homes in my area that are obviously the situation due to appearance. What I was getting at is that perhaps we should do as they do in Japan, seriously give them a bunk in a bunk house with 20-30 other bunks. Everybody has there very own 4ft wide,4 ft talk, and 8ft long box to sleep in and decorate any way they please. That would give those with any desire for autonomy the incentive to get a job and better their lives. The system we have now is broken, we have generational abuse of the welfare system. The system promotes single parenthood or lose out on assitance, so that it is a lose lose situation.

We have a similar system as Japan here in the USA it's called prison. That's where most ne'er do wells wind up. There are most likely those who encourage their daughters to have kids so they can be on welfare. Pathetic existance but probly not the norm. There should be time limits and mandatory work search to be on assistance as well as lots of surprize visits from childrens services. That would make one wish to be independent

Another side effect of section 8 housing is that the building owner can rent a substandard home for more money due to the subsidies, the get a balloon payment every 5 years? For repair or remodel as well, where does all that money come from? The few that are still working in taxes.

ALL DAY LONG,! While I work to repair the home they have destroyed.

In rio de janero they have sqatters villiages made of cardbord and scraps. There are lots of vacant homes in depressed citys they went back for taxes and no body will buy them. Why not open up a homestead policy on such propertys?

Well somehow we got way off topic, the system is broke and unless there is profit in it for someone, then nothing will get done. I don't care if we continue with capitalism or socialism, someone is going to profit at others expense. The issue remains the same. R****m is very lopsided due to affirmative action, r****t TV personalities getting airtime and the NAACP. Not to mention the fact that children are being raised with the belief that society owes them something. So back to topic, Thomas Sewell can say what ever he darn well pleases about his race or any other, he has earned it, he deserve respect and people should lend him an ear over any of the fire mentioned.

Yep I'm a contractor too. I had the displeasure of working on a Nieghbor works project for a low income home owner. The people were cranksters selling while I was working. They stole a brand new air compressor from me. I would show up to people sleeping in their cars all day in the driveway. In the end they even sued me and went after Nieghbor works. I avoid Nieghborworks jobs now. I do work for Native American housing and I have good experiences every time.
