Drivers in Chicago pump their own gas, they have to pay for it beforehand there, as in most other places. Here in rural West Virginia many gas stations allow you to pump your own gas and then walk into the store to pay for it. Most of the time you just slide your credit card t the pump and then pump away. YEARS ago attendants did it and checked your oil while they were at it.
For some obscure reason Red Skelton and his eye exam routine comes to mind. "Do you want your eyes checked" says the optomitrist "No thanks, I prefer them plaid" is the customers reply.
