"Why Is a Rock in Leather $85- and Sold Out?"

"Why Is a Rock in Leather $85- and Sold Out?"
BY IWB

"Signs of collapse! Here is the review…I’m at a loss for words, but my stomach did turn a few times: “I was so excited to receive my rock. I felt it was only fair to spend some time with the rock before writing a review for this item. I wanted to describe it as best as I could since it is a pretty steep price for a rock. But this rock, it represents the best of humanity. It inspires love and creativity and innocence. It can move mountains. This rock is truly the best item in my home. A gift like this could end wars. This is something much more than just a material purchase, it can stand for the greatest bits of people. This rock is us. I will be presenting this rock to my girlfriend to prove that our relationship is as well rounded as this rock and just as solid.”

---------- $85 --------
Medium Leather Wrapped Stone
-------- SOLD OUT -------

"Details & Care: A paperweight? A conversation piece? A work of art? It's up to you, but this smooth Los Angeles-area stone - wrapped in rich, vegetable-tanned American leather secured by sturdy contrast backstitching - is sure to draw attention wherever it rests. A traditional hardening process gives the leather a beautiful ombré effect. Like all Made Solid leather pieces, this one is cut, shaped, sewn and finished by hand in artist Peter Maxwell's Los Angeles studio. Using vintage leather working tools and traditional saddle-stitching techniques, Maxwell aims to create beautiful designs that embody both simplicity and functionality, and that develop rich character and patina over time."

I try, I really do want to believe that Americans simply cannot
be this mind-numbingly stupid and greedy, and every time they prove me wrong...

When you're born in America, you get a front row seat."

I'd like a refund...

Only if you have something to slip between the two and if you bought one I would suggest your skull.

The mountains around here are FULL of rocks. If I were foolish enough to want one as a pet, I could get one on my own, no charge, I would however, cover it in a burqua not leather, and display it on the porch. The article was so absurd I had to add another layer of obsurdity.

I recogniseed that. It is about the only response you can make to such idiocy. This is a corollary to my other post
“Un-Merry Christmas: The Perverse Incentives to Over-Consume and Over-Spend” above this one. What better way to overspend on useless garbage than to buy a leather wrapped rock?

I think it's cruel to remove anything wild from it's natural environment and put it in a cage (leather bag) to be subjugated for the simple pleasures of it's new captor against it's Will. (Sic)!

Sounds like an opportunity to create an ASPRA. American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Rocks. You can go on television with particularly damaged rocks and ask for a dollar a day from each viewer to recrystallize the rock's missing parts and return them to the wild.

That's probably in the making. Some PUREST liberal will rake in a fortune with that idea. When there's enough $ they'll lobby to ban the possession of wild caught rocks, give rocks rights and demand that ALL rocks be registered and licenced if they are to be kept in captivity, and ONLY domestic and domesticated rocks, bred in captivity can be owned.

Followed by the fools who want rocks banned outright because someone used one to bash out another's brains. Rocks k**l, ergo "No Rocks for you'! These are weapons of micro-destruction. Only licensed Police functionaries can possess rocks.

Remember the popularity of the original pet rock? And no, I didn't have one...
