Christ and satan

The encounters between Christ and satan are located in the fourth chapters of Matthew and Luke. We will cover both. Before we begin, let’s highlight some ideas. Satan is criminally insane. He hates us although we have done nothing to him. He can put thoughts in your mind. Read the 20th chapter of Exodus and he will put questions in your mind about following God’s instructions. He will encourage knee jerk reactions where all the facts aren’t presented. He uses the media, education, politics, religion, and the economy to destroy societies. He can intensify any fleshly desire. he can make you feel hungry when you just ate, horny when you just had sex, sad when you should be happy. Let’s go back to Christ’s temptation. Why does Jesus go 40 days in the desert with no food? He was showing us that we should fast, what satan will use, and how to defeat satan. You shouldn’t put food in your mouth every time you are hungry. Some people eat themselves to death, one fork full at a time. The first time satan comes to Christ, he says loosely, you’re the son of God, why not use your supernatural ability and feed yourself? All Jesus when talking to satan used was the written word of God. For the first question in Matthew, Jesus quotes Deuteronomy 8:3. If we need every word God has spoken why are the prophets completely ignored? How can we say we have a relationship with Jesus while ignoring every sermon He preached, parable He taught, and miracle He performed? With the next question satan tries to twist the meaning in the word of God. The scripture satan twists is Psalm 91:11 & 12. When quoting the scripture satan leaves out, “in all your ways”. This makes it sound like it doesn’t matter whether you make emotional decisions or do nothing until God appeals to your intellect, God will never leave or forsake you. This is not how it works. If you dance with God, He will lead. Jesus doesn’t acknowledge the error. He quotes from Deuteronomy 6:16. The word of God never contradicts itself. After this satan goes for broke. He offers the world to the son of God in exchange for worship. Currently Jesus is at the right hand of God and rules in heaven. Jesus and satan have been enemies for thousands of years. God’s will is done in heaven. This is not an attractive offer. Jesus combines Deuteronomy 10:20 and 7:16. After this, satan is dismissed for good.
