Works of flesh

If you don’t use your higher intellect, you will make emotional decisions. When you first grow up, you want to have sex with anyone who is willing. The idea that you should be selective when choosing a lover is rather constricting. We don’t like being treated like children, even when we are children. But there are questions we should consider before we have sex. Is either party married to someone else? Is there a chance that I may contract a disease? What if pregnancy occurs? If you have sex with a person and calamity occurs, the results can be disastrous. God’s word is a shield. But a shield is useless if it is on the ground when the arrow is fired. Exodus 20:14 will help more if you find out the person is married when you first meet them, than after you have become pregnant with a married man’s child. The spirit of God’s boundaries are set by the word of God. Jesus says in John 6:63 that the words He speaks are spirit and life. John puts word and spirit on the same level in 1 John 5:7. Intellectual decisions take time. We should wait on the Lord. If you use your higher intellect, you won’t make emotional decisions.
Adultery - Married people should only have sex with each other. God came to this planet and wrote with His finger in stone not to commit adultery. When you commit adultery, you not only break one of God’s commandments, you risk breaking the heart of your spouse and what about your children? The best and safest environment in which to raise a child is with the people that sired it. Families are the backbone of society.
Fornication - 1 Corinthians 6:18 says to flee fornication, you only hurt yourself. Fornication is sex between two unmarried people. You can have sex with your fiancé according to 1 Corinthians 7:36. It is not a good idea to have sex with strangers.
Uncleanness - We should make choices that are clean and decent.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:22
Lasciviousness - This word in the Greek denotes an absence of restraint, the presence of indecency and wickedness. There is a line we should not cross and acts we should never commit and things we should never say. We should not make feeling good our highest priority.
Idolatry - There is only one creator. Some people think there are many gods or god was invented by man.
Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heaven and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.
Jeremiah 10:11
Those who worshipped idols were really worshipping devils. 1 Corinthians 10:20 The first commandment is not to put anything before God. This includes self. If your desires go against God’s word, don’t do them. They came from satan. This is an intelligently designed universe. There must be an intelligent designer. I can make pancakes. You would look like an idiot telling me pancakes can make themselves.
Witchcraft - Sometimes translated sorceries. This is from the Greek word pharmakeia, from which the word pharmacy is derived. Those who use drugs to feel good will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. They won’t amount to much in this life either.
Hatred - Jesus commanded us to love one another. We are taught to love God, but hate sin, without being taught what is and is not a sin. We believe drinking, smoking, and eating pork and shrimp to be sins, in spite of Mark 7:15, and legalize abortion and same sex marriage. Hatred, jealousy, and resentment are intense and short-sighted emotions. We all have down sittings and uprisings. If you think at 40 like you did at 20, you have wasted 20 years of your life. There has been no maturity or growth. Emotions are temporary and we should learn a lesson from each setback.
Variance - This means to divide. Proverbs 6:19 lets us know that God hates those that sow discord among brothers. We have a major political party that wins elections by dividing society into groups. In the Lord’s prayer the words I, me, or my is not mentioned one time. We should go back to being one nation under God. We will not survive otherwise. A house divided against itself cannot stand.
Emulations - These are finger pointers. They look for sin in others but not in themselves. They have a plan for what to do is transgression is found, but none for good behavior. If you read Matthew 7:1 - 5, you will see that finger pointing is a bigger sin than whatever we think someone else has done. A finger pointer is useless and serves no purpose.
Wrath - Some people look for a reason to get angry and exact revenge. Christians should find a way to build, unite, and encourage . Vengeance is mine says the Lord.
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing, but contrariwise blessing: knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
1 Peter 3:9
Strife - These people are argumentative. Some people wait for you to say something that will make them angry. They are useless. They can’t hurt you, nor can they do you any good.
Seditions - This means divisive. America used to be one nation under God. After a presidential election America used to unite behind the winner. Politics stopped at the water’s edge. When Obama stole the last presidential election, there were no protests. Democrats are trying to achieve political power not by winning elections through the power of their ideas, but by finding transgressions committed decades ago.
Heresies - These people form cliques. This is disunion. If we can’t stand together, we will fall apart.
Envying - This is wanting what someone else has. The last of the 10 commandments is thy shalt not covet. Get your own. If a person will cheat with you, they will cheat on you
Murders - This is the taking of an innocent life that meant you no harm. If you read Proverbs 6:17, you see that God hates the shedding of innocent blood. The most innocent are unborn children. They have never uttered a cry, drank from a breast or bottle, soiled a diaper, or drew their first breath. They couldn’t have done anything to anybody. Killing them is wrong and needs to stop. How many doctors, lawyers, or Indian chiefs have we murdered?
Drunkenness - This is not getting a buzz from a beer. This is habitual intoxication. If your highest priorities are eating, drinking, and feeling good, there is no difference between your mindsets and that of a dogs.
Revellings - It’s better to control your emotions and not let your emotions control you. If all of these can be applied to you, then you will not go to heaven and you irritate anyone who has the misfortune of being in the same room with you
