A representative republic, not a socialist democracy. It is all there in the DOI and US Constitution.

But it was such a good answer, Paul.

A free country, who's citizens are not unduely controlled by a federal government.

The reasons should be obvious. - Super Dave

I have never gotten a job from a poor person. You people want the misery to be shared by all. Those of us on the right believe that a rising tide lifts all ships. I will never understand how you people believe the Soviet Union was a better way of life than the United States. Foolish. And make no mistake, your way of thinking will bring about the Soviet lifestyle.

Thanks for answering, BR.
I would argue that we do have a representative republic, but what our founders did not anticipate is that our congress would be representing corporations instead of citizens.

While I am not prepared to argue for a pure Socialist Democracy, this definition of such, taken form Wikipedia, sounds like it has a lot of value.

"Social democracy is a political, social and economic ideology that supports economic and social interventions to promote social justice within the framework of a capitalist economy, as well as a policy regime involving a commitment to representative democracy, measures for income redistribution and regulation of the economy in the general interest and welfare state provisions. Social democracy thus aims to create the conditions for capitalism to lead to greater democratic, egalitarian and solidaristic outcomes; and is often associated with the set of socioeconomic policies that became prominent in Northern and Western Europe—particularly the Nordic model in the Nordic countries—during the latter half of the 20th century"

As the U.S. is, for all intents and purposes, still a bold experiment (after all, there are doorknobs in France older than our country) perhaps we have both the opportunity and the obligation to integrate what is good and discard the rest from every form of government that has ever existed. Extremism on both sides of the spectrum, as we have seen, leads nowhere good.

It's time we started focusing on all our common ground rather than on what divides us. THAT'S the thing that makes us a great country.

Good points, Paul.
It is human Nature that gets in the way.
Selfish self serving purposes.
Subjective reasoning as to which is good, and which is bad, even evil.

The constitution was designed to minimize Human Nature taking advantage of people using the government to do that.
A try for a level playing field.
IMO; No other system of government ever came close to that.

Rumitoid,

Can you not be man enough to accept that I congratulated you on your party's win? And my sincere desire to not have to go through week after week of recounting all the v**es? Do keep in mind that I said nothing either favorably or unfavorably about your party's agenda.... Seems that you need to argue with someone tonight. It would have been interesting to read your comments had Mr. Moore won....

I don’t think he would have had the same ‘tone’ as your ‘good sport’ congratulatory win comment! IMHO

It was reported that the dems were registering convicted felons, however I have no direct knowledge of that. I'm sure if it's true, Moore's people will find out and if they discover it is, a recount will be in order.

Common ground ?

I think that phrase is misleading.

There's a lot of uninhabited ground left upon the Earth.

Most of it is wild and difficult to tame.

When we conquered this ground we call the U.S.A. we didn't have in mind to turn it over to Muslims, homos, parasites or foreigners.

But the Muslims, homos, parasites and foreigners have become quite insistent upon dominating our social infrastructure.

If the Muslims had their way, you and I would have two choices.

Convert or die.

We don't need common ground, we need our own ground.

I can accept you American homos because there's plenty of ground in this country to separate us.

But Muslims and foreigners have begun to take up the space between us.

They need to get back to their own ground............................ Pronto !!!
