Debeda, I totally agree with you. I'm a pretty mild guy who does get pretty irritated with injustices but in this case this bastard wouldn't get off the pier. I would personally take him apart before the police could even get there. K**l my Daughter, dying in my arms, her asking me to help her, no way Deb, it would be beyond my control. I'm in tears thinking about that. Normally I'm a really good and respectful guy, in that situation, I can't say but do know where I'd go because of not being have the time to rationalize and would just act. It's a guy thing. Mike

Not just a guy thing. A parent thing. I can imagine being blinded by grief and rage and doing him before he ever got a chance to get PCed out of a murder rap.

And you are the one who argues that Republicans don't lead with their Hearts and are cold and calculating. Shame on you for being a hypocrite. It's funny how you can change your stripes every which way. Moldy, you show your self to be a fool at every turn. Why don't you just stick with the HP and spare us your stupid BS. Merry Christmas.

Happy New year is going to be President Trump re-elected for another 4 years. Boo Hoo for you. Mike

This thread is about criminal justice. You want to condemn me for pointing out the facts of law. We may all want to hang the perpetrator, but the law limits what can be charged in this case based on the facts. Don't take your frustration out on me.

What do you mean the law limits what can be charged in this case. That's the problem. Why should there be any limits on what can be charged in this case then any other. Because he's an i*****l a***n?? Because it's a sanctuary city? So there for the law has to limit itself in these certain cases? That's bullcrap. This whole thing was political. It was a.finger to President Trump and it was a finger to the citizens of SF and citizens of all of America!!

There are different elements to a crime.
Murder and manslaughter, both are k*****g but only one has intent.
Those types of nuances are what I am talking about.
It is like the difference if you have an auto accident and k**l somebody,
or you deliberately run over someone.

I wonder about what charges they filed in that case. It seems like involuntary manslaughter would be a no brainer.

He was found not guilty of murder, involuntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon. The jury convicted him the lone charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Apparently it's the gun's fault.

As I said earlier involuntary manslaughter should have been a guilty verdict, but the fact that it was a ricochet off the concrete
and an accidental discharge played into the decision.

Quite. And the fact that he was found guilty of felony firearms possession indicates that they knew he was breaking the law by having it in his possession in the first place. They should have set him up for a short drop and a quick stop. I still say he is damned lucky he was tried in San Francisco. Had it been anywhere else, he would have fried.

Debeda, you are absolutely right, it's a parent thing and women would probably be more ferocious but men would be more reactive. If that were my daughter or Granddaughter, I'd go out of control. I'd k**l him quick but then probably take him apart. It would frustration, I couldn't protect them. Oh God, I can't imagine. Mike

I know. A horrible horrible thing for that father to endure. I've often thought if I lost one of my children or grandchildren I couldn't keep living. And then to have the justice system let the perp weasel out for only PC reasons. To add insult to injury I read that the monument/remembrance put up for her was removed recently by city workers....

I heard that too. That is so sad. I think Trump should rename the park by the bridge Kate Stienle National Park. Now I hear that zarates lawyer is trying to get him off the last charge of felon possessing a gun. So he takes a young, innocent woman's life....and it's like don't blame the poor little illegal that has been deported 6 times, and has a rap sheet a mile long. These Sobs that freed him need to be held accountable!!

Agreed. And the amazing thing about it is the defense is he "found" a gun and the poor little illegal hasn't got the brains of a 4 year old to know not to play with it. REALLY????? THIS is our justice system?

And another thing they whined about him is he only has a 2nd grade education. Hmmm...but he sure knew how to cross the border 6 times and knew how to build a rap sheet a mile long. And why is it the jury wasn't allowed to know what his background was. Any other criminal that is being tried they know what he's done earlier. It's a down right case of illegal privledge!!
