Has it become "open season" on cops?
Sure looks that way, doesn't it?

Everyday, it seems, that some cop, some where is getting shot or k**led.
According to Newsweek, up to June of this year:
"Of the 2017 total, 26 officers were k**led in traffic accidents, 23 were k**led by firearms and 16 died from other causes, including residual health problems related to the 9/11 attacks." Making 65 in total halfway through the year. Note that 23 died of firearm wounds and 26 died in traffic accidents, making it more likely that a police officer will die as a result of a traffic accident than a gunshot wound. Still, that approximates to about one a week. Of course, these things tend to go in 'spurts'.

Of course, for gunnuts and nra types, having a gun, or access to a gun, is more important than a cops life.[sic]
Are you accusing my gun of being a cop-k**ler? Is that what you're saying? That my gun just up and k**led some random cop? No, of course not, that would be a ridiculous accusation. Everybody knows guns don't just jump up and start firing at cops, right? Right? In that case, I can only assume that you are accusing me personally of these heinous crimes, with my gun as an accomplice. Is that what you're saying? That I somehow managed to clone myself and go off on a cop-k*****g spree? Wow. Just, Wow. Is there a molecule of logic, common sense or even just plain common decency left in that poor, overtaxed brain of yours? When was the last time you approached a question or problem without applying all of these preconceived biases and sick attitudes from the outset? Have you retained the ability of original thought at all; or are you simply operating on 'auto pilot' now?
The plain fact of the matter is you have no clue regarding the difference between gun ownership and criminal activity, do you? In your sick little world, "gunnuts" [sic"] and "nra types" [sic] (go back to school and learn to write) are tantamount to cop-k**lers simply by virtue of their rightful choice to own a gun. I find your ignorance astounding and your malice toward your fellow citizens worrisome, at best. For your information, I am a recipient of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Lifesaving Award; and a proud gun owner. By the way, cops carry guns too. By your logic, they should be disarmed 'for safety'. That's your aim, isn't it? You want to disarm law enforcement so the real crime spree can begin, don't you? Good luck with that and remember, there are plenty of us who are able to put a stop to such behavior, police in attendance or not.
Which brings me nicely to my next point about gun owners: They can be handy to have around. There are police officers walking around today who can thank armed citizens for saving their lives:
https://www.bing.com/search?q=Police+saved+by+armed+bystander&pc=MOZI&form=MOZSBRThat's right, snowflake. People with guns backing up people with guns. Now take your assumptions about what's more important to me or anyone else walking these streets with a gun in his or her holster and bugger off. We have better things to do than correct your insane mindset. You did it to yourself, now go fix it yourself.
