Sarah Palin warned us about this regime and its leader

During the 2008 p**********l campaign, Republican vice p**********l nominee Sarah Palin warned that if Senator Barack Obama were elected president, his "indecision" and "moral equivalence" may encourage Russia's Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine.

Palin said then:

After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next.

For those comments, she was mocked by the high-brow Foreign Policy magazine and its editor Blake Hounshell, who now is one of the editors of Politico magazine.

In light of recent events in Ukraine and concerns that Russia is getting its troops ready to cross the border into the neighboring nation, nobody seems to be laughing at or dismissing those comments now.

Hounshell wrote then that Palin's comments were "strange" and "this is an extremely far-fetched scenario."

"And given how Russia has been able to unsettle Ukraine's pro-Western government without firing a shot, I don't see why violence would be necessary to bring Kiev to heel," Hounshell dismissively wrote.

Palin made her remarks on the stump after Obama's running mate Joe Biden warned Obama supporters to "gird your loins" if Obama is elected because international leaders may test or try to take advantage of him.

This has zero relevance. It is Mrs Palin trying to keep herself relevant. Whats going on in Ukraine has little to do with Obama and everything to do with big-picture geopolitics and private-banker hedgemony over Ukraine's economy and resources.

It shows that she had some insight for the political scene. She knew that obummer would make this country weak and irrelevant in the eyes of the world. Any "big picture geo-politics" by any country must consider the consequences and attitude of other countries. Unfortunately, America (under obummer) has become irrelevant to most countries with power.

Really? And where is this info coming from, that America is irrelevant to the powers-that-be? Last I checked the dollar is still the global reserve-currency, plus the Western-owned World Bank and IMF have been pushing eastward since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Follow the money.

No, it shows that if your mouth issues an unending stream of foolishness, sometime, somehow some of it will sound as if you know something...

Anybody who relies on Sarah Palin for "facts" ought to have their head examined -- she doesn't even know what she reads!

Typical response from a liberal. If you think this country is as influential and relevant as it was 15 years ago, you need to wake up and smell the coffee. Smarten up!

Do you feel we are a country with no power? We lost much of our prestige when Bush went against most of Europe to get the oil from Iraq.. We are still the strongest country in the world, militarily, monetarily, and industrially... If you are afraid of the Russia/Ukraine problem, that is in the domain of Europe and Asia problems... We have no skin in that game. It is yet another old world struggle that goes back centuries.. So beyond that, what bothers you most about our nations image?

Great reply --but don't attack me, for I am NOT the issue; Palin's stupidity is. Defend HER!

We are becoming a country where more and more people want (and depend on) government hand-outs. Which are paid for by working peoples' taxes. Eventually, there will be more people receiving government assistance than people working and paying taxes. We don't "make" anything in this country anymore. You're right about us not having any "skin" in the Russia/Ukraine situation; other than watching another tyrant forcibly take over another country. Simply put: the rest of the world (including our allies) do not have the same respect for us that they had in the past.

yes, I don`t think anyone feels the welfare system is working as it should... It has become such a huge bureaucracy, I doubt it can be adjusted or "fixed" to function as it should.. I know only 2 people on welfare, one old lady who some how did not qualify for SS, she lives with her daughters family and receives a small amount each month. I do not know what the amount is. To me this is OK... The other I know is a man in Wisconsin, over 50 who due to birth problem or injuries... is mentally not able to care for himself but is not helpless to the point of going to the institution.. So he lives for now in a corner of a friends garage, (commercial shop) has bed and chair, currently making a bathroom which he can use.. He get $800/mo for himself, I think the friend gets a ck from the Government for the housing.. It does not seem right to me. I think his family should step in, they a very able, but not willing.. I also have heard of dozens of c***ts.. A friends wife used to work for human services and was fairly high level management, She could rant about c***ters all day long. Whenever one method was blocked, the c***ter would find another way... Yes, welfare is broken..
