What's in it for me?

To determine the t***h behind an agenda, policy, law, or campaign platform, one need only put ones self in the shoes of whoever authored it, and answer that simple question; what's in it for me? In other words, what do THEY expect to get out of it.

That is the reason why I don't trust Democratic or Republican lawmakers, or party officials; the answer to that question is NEVER what's good for ME. The stated mission or purpose of any policy, legislation or platform, will ALWAYS sound like exactly what I would desire, but it's application never reaches that threshold - because that was never it's TRUE purpose.

Economic policy is designed to enhance the lawmakers portfolio, and/or encourage more lavish donations to their war chests, it is NEVER to put more money in MY pocket. I can not find a single policy or law, crafted in the last 5 decades, who's true purpose was the betterment of normal, average people...............not a single one. Yet, every single one of them was sold as doing exactly that. Had people asked the above question and learned the answer, few of those laws would have ever made it into the books, because folks would have risen up in righteous anger.

Here's a hint: Fortune 500 companies have made more money in the last 10 years, than they made in the 20 years prior to the 2008 crash, yet all economic policies proposed by both Democrats and Republicans, are designed to help them make MORE money...........on the premise that it will somehow encourage those companies to give YOU more money. Were it ever in a companies best interest to share the wealth, they'd have done it already.............since they have more money now, than they did in 2007.

So, instead of buying the hype, I suggest all of ask what is in it for the party, person or administration that is proposing stuff, because if you look real closely, you'll find you're not on the list of beneficiaries.....................no matter what they tell you about it.

To determine the t***h behind an agenda, policy, l... (show quote)

Good post.

The basic question you should always ask yourself regarding anything you read , hear, see that requires investigation on any level, laws, crimes, political pronouncements, sales offers, is WHO BENEFITS?

Look at any of the so-called conspiracy theory stories such as 911. And when you ask that question, the answer will tell you who was really behind it. Look at who made big money, who got certain laws passed, etc. ...And also look at who is trying to cover it up. (Their benefit comes from the people not knowing who to really blame.)

Same with JFK's assasination, etc., etc.

Allways ask, "WHO BENEFITS". It is really that simple.
