In a bit of newspeak and doublethink that would make George Orwell proud, Senator John McCain received the “Liberty Medal” from the National Constitution Center. The award was presented to him by former Vice President Joe Biden.

There is so much wrong with the whole concept of McCain receiving a “Liberty Medal” from any entity, much less one that purportedly represents the U.S. Constitution – and to have it presented to him by Biden, no less — that we weren’t sure where to start. But then McCain made it easy for us by including the following paragraph in his acceptance speech:

To fear the world we have organized and led for three-quarters of a century, to abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the obligations of international leadership and our duty to remain ‘the last best hope of earth’ for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems is as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of the past that Americans consigned to the ash heap of history.

Nationalism — America firstism — is the default position for a real American. But McCain’s a g*******t, not a Consitutionalist, and everything he does and every act he’s taken as Senator that hasn’t been about lining his own pocket (ex. Keating Five) has been about pushing toward a world without borders with mass and unchecked immigration and ruled by a one world government. There is not a foreign war in the last generation that he hasn’t wholeheartedly pushed America into.

Globalism – whether it’s via U.S. hegemony or a world ruled by a cabal of banksters or the UN – is anathema to the Constitution. But that’s what McCain and Biden and their ilk strive for daily.

And all you need to know about the National Constitution Center can be summed up in a couple of sentences found on the center’s own website:

Since 2006, the Constitution Center has administered the Liberty Medal, which is awarded annually to men and women of courage and conviction who strive to secure the blessings of liberty to people around the globe. Recipients include Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, Bono, Muhammad Ali, Mikhail Gorbachev, Nelson Mandela, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Sandra Day O’Connor.

I’ve read the Constitution many times. I’m yet to find a clause in it making it the responsibility of the United States – or any of its people – “to secure the blessings of liberty to people around the globe” because that was not the Constitution’s purpose.

It was established by the states to “form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”

So I’m calling the National Constitution Center on its f**e mission and its f**e award. Clearly none of the folks there understand it, or most of the aforementioned “Liberty Medal” recipients would have been burned in effigy for their unconstitutional unAmericanism rather than being rewarded for it.
