Malachi chapter 3

Verse 1 - 4

John the Baptist came in the spirit of Elisha to tell everyone that the anointed one is coming so we should clean up our act. John was not Elisha but came in the spirit of Elisha. The things Elisha stood for, John stood for the same things. He got people to correct their behavior. There is something that occurs when gold is purified. The hotter you heat the fire, the purer you make the gold. The coming prophet will have a greater effect.

Verse 5 & 6

If you repent of your sins, God will forgive you. If you are obstinate and stubborn and continue to sin, God will judge you. Read 2 Peter 3:9.

Verse 7

Each generation is worse than the one before it. We used to make new families. Now we have baby mommas and baby daddies. Considering abortion and social diseases, the hippie revolution of the 60’s was a failure. God is disappointed with a nation that will praise Him but not obey Him. Read Luke 6:46.

Verse 8 - 10

If you give money to a church because they have a nice choir, but they don’t teach God’s word chapter by chapter and verse by verse, you are giving God’s money to satan. These people are robbing God. God does not send beggars. Jesus told His disciples freely have you received, freely give. If they pressure you for money, that is a sign that God didn’t send them.

Verse 11 & 12

Most of us give money to churches that don’t teach God’s word. We are wasting money. Right now God will not help you if you give a false prophet money, or curse you if you don’t. He may be angry at you when He comes back. In 2 John 10 He says not even to speak to someone who doesn’t teach bible.

Verse 13 - 15

In Matthew 7:15 Jesus says to beware of false prophets, and tells us how to recognize them. Because we listen to false prophets, we legalize abortion and same sex marriage and think drinking and smoking to be sins. In spite of Mark 7:15.

Verse 16 - 18

Read 2 Chronicles 7:14. God blesses those that do His will.
