Diet Democrat lost to fool. By a very slim margin in many states. Kind of like Bush/Gore. Not much difference in the popular v**e. Doesn't take much to win the E*******l College.

If I were a conservative, or Libertarian candidate, I would view the RNC's endorsement as the kiss of death with my targeted consituency, because I would be running against nearly everything these status quo pissmires represent.

I'm with YOU, my friend. It has gotten to the point that the RNC seems to seek out the worst of the bad to run IF they want the Presidency. I think their constituency is dwindling for just such behavior.

Straw poll, committee, however it's done, the only emphasis is on "beating the other party". Since the independent v**e is crucial in National e******ns, State e******ns tend to be directed towards it. Winning in the State gives them more confidence for the Nationals. They didn't learn their lessons from the last two e******ns. Everybody just KNEW that Mit had won, until the v**es came in. They're still confused.

I think you will see a shift this year. Republicans will retain control of the House. If they do, John Boehner is out of a job. (Then again, if they don't, he is still out of a job, so in one way it's a win-win). Republicans may not take back control of the Senate this year. They will make inroads. I think they will, in 2016, gain control of both the Senate and the House. Given the RNC's uncanny ability to nominate losers, I will not hazard a guess as to the p**********l results.

We have two good guys running for state senate in my district. One got the party endorsement on the third b****t of the committee peoples endorsement convention. Now the party expects the one who got 61 v**es out of 173 to drop out of the race to create "party unity". We have 250,000 v**ers to decide the primary race but the 173 committee people who v**ed want to make the primary a "no contest" e******n. Sometimes I think it is far better to have an open primary. I live in PA and each party has to v**e on their own party's b****t and the winner runs in the general e******n in November. What are your thoughts on endorsement versus open primary?

First, welcome. Second, good question. I am not familiar with how PA does this but it sounds basically like the e*******l college which follows the rules of each state. Personally, I would like to see any of these practices abolished so that we would truly have representatives who were elected by the people. Just my opinion of course.

If Paul had any real support he would have done well in the early primary's, he is sort of a worst of both worlds candidate, desiring big government control over personal liberty when it comes to conservitive social issues and taking a hands off approach with corporations. His campaign was just a fart in the wind with a core group of zealous supporters, a funny sideshow at best.

Welcome, abob!
I may be in the minority here, but I believe in open b****ts. I am even in favor of not labeling the party of the candidates. I say everyone should know about the candidates, v**e principle, not political party. I believe every b****t should have a slot for *None of the above*. I don't believe the Party should try to weed out anyone. There have been numerous times I didn't even get a chance to v**e for my favorite because he was "eliminated" before I could v**e for him, and I despise that. Every candidate should get a chance in every state, then if necessary, we should have run-off v****g. Basically, as things now stand, a newcomer doesn't have a chance in hell of accomplishing anything. The old dogs WILL control. We may have a democratic republic, but we don't have any fairness in our government.
