Mark chapter 6

Verse 1 - 3

Jesus had four half brothers and at least two half sisters. Two of Jesus’ half brothers would write books in the bible, James and Judas. Because of Judas Iscariot Judas name was shortened to Jude.

Verse 4

This is the only idea in all four gospels.

Verse 5 & 6

Without faith it is impossible to please Him. There are no atheist in foxholes in combat.

Verse 7- 13

Jesus and the disciples weren’t traveling musicians. They actually benefited the lives of their listeners. They weren’t to provide for themselves. Satan has deceived the whole world. Some will doubt your words. Just go somewhere else. It’s never personal.

Verse 14 - 29

Satan was making emotional appeals in the minds of man to kill John the Baptist. Herod had not planned to kill John. The daughter of Herodias had nothing against John. The opportunity to request John’s head just fell in Herodias’ lap. A true prophet values God’s word over man’s opinion. He is not concerned with being popular.

Verse 30 - 32

Jesus knows we are just human and need food and rest. Although this is a supernatural .battle He knows we all have limitations.

Verse 33 & 34

Most people don’t care about anyone but themselves. But they have a hunger to hear God’s word taught chapter by chapter and verse by verse. In John 10:27 Jesus says His sheep hear His voice. If you can teach bible and nothing else you church will never be empty.

Verse 35 - 44

The feeding of the 5,000 is the only miracle in all four gospels. Matthew and Mark contain an additional feeding of a smaller multitude. In both miracles, the multitude is hungry and only a small boy has brought a lunch. Jesus breaks up the multitude into small groups, breaks up the food, and gives the food to His disciples and His disciples feed the multitude.

Verse 45 & 46

Jesus’ cousin John the Baptist has been killed and no one has given Jesus time to mourn. After taking care of everyone else, He spends some time alone.

Verse 47 - 52

I think Jesus is playing a joke. Around this time there was a rumor that the last thing sailors saw before their boat sank, was a ghost walking on the water.

Verse 53 - 56

Jesus and the disciples actually improved the lives of those around them.
