I have no idea. Libertarian positions have become too soft on borders and military readiness. The vice p**********l candidate was a very Liberal Democrat. No conservative would be a two-term governor of Taxachusetts.
While people call me a warmonger, the fact is that every time the US is unready militarily, the men and women of the Armed Forces pay the price.
Failure to control our borders has led to an increase in i******s from about 3 million to about 12 million since the mid-eighties.

I don't know if you're using 'literary license' here or not, but Bill Weld was a Republican when he was the governor of Massachusetts. Being Massachusetts, he was probably a liberal Republican, but he wasn't an actual Democrat.

I did the same 'literary license' thing in the runup to the e******ns in 2007, where I said the choice was between a liberal Democrat (McCain) and a l*****t f*****t (Obama).

While I firmly believe Gary Johnson would have been a very good president, you should remember that he is still a politician. I think he was trying to broaden the appeal of the Libertarian party by including somebody from the northeast - not exactly a stronghold of libertarianism.

This is a painful story for me to write.

For a quarter of a century, I was a major part of the conservative movement. But like many on the right, in the wake of Donald Trump’s victory I had to ask some uncomfortable questions. The 2016 p**********l campaign was a brutal, disillusioning slog, and there came a moment when I realized that conservatives had created an alternate reality bubble—one that I had helped shape.

During the 2016 e******n, conservatives turned on the principles that had once animated them. Somehow a movement based on real ideas—such as economic freedom and limited government—had devolved into a tribe that valued neither principle nor t***h; luminaries such as Edmund Burke and William F. Buckley Jr. had been replaced by media clowns such as Ann Coulter and Milo Yiannopoulos.

Icons such as Ronald Reagan—with his optimism and geniality—had been supplanted by the dark, erratic narcissism of Donald Trump. Gradualism, expertise and prudence—the values that once were taken for granted among conservatives—were replaced by polls and ratings spikes, as the right allowed liberal overreach in the Obama era to blind them to the crackpots and bigots in their midst.

Some have argued that the e******n was a binary choice, that Hillary Clinton had to be defeated by any means. I share many of their concerns about Clinton, but the price was ruinous. The right’s e*******l victory has not wiped away its sins. It has magnified them, and the problems that were exposed during the 2016 campaign haven’t disappeared. Success does not necessarily imply virtue or sanity. Kings can be both mad and bad, and the courtiers are usually loath to point out the obvious—just look at Caligula or Kim Jong Un.

Today, with Trump in office, the problems of the right are the problems of all Americans. And the worst part of it is that we—conservatives—did this to ourselves.
Donald Trump is the president we deserve.

Trump, however, exploited such divisions for his own gain. He tapped into something disturbing that we had ignored and perhaps nurtured—a shift from freedom to authoritarianism, from American “exceptionalism” to nativism and xenophobia. From his hard line on immigration and rebuttal of free trade to his strange fascination with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump represented a dramatic repudiation of the values that had once defined the movement.
If Reagan were alive, he would hardly recognize his party—or the walls it had erected.

Sorry I didn't take the time reading your post and it's propagandized garbage I'm sure ..

I just wanted to comment on the title which shows you lack the ability to understand..

We, whom v**ed for President Trump gained everything back the left wing progressive pretend patriots tried shoving down our throats for years.. The extreme liberal of today is a true testament to excessive liberalization siding with the indoctrination of socialism!! Another thing your ilk did, hide the intent of a socialist regime behind calling yourselves progressives!! As if you thought we that stupud...

Your anger of the Trump win is because all of you fear the social aspects of government shutting its doors on You and making you have to be responsible civilized people who either make it on your own or fall on your face having no one to blame but yourself.. The exceptionally well thought out play of broadening the stance of a few over the wants of the majority got kicked to the curb and you people can not stand it!!!!!

Sorry that offends you but it is the will of the majority that rule just as it was set up to be.. A Republic not some damn democracy you use trying to change the constitution by saying a constitutional democracy of the Republuc.. What horse manure that is!!!

Ok, rant off, have a great day.. Ever so beautiful here today...

Lol, you guys blindness and gullibility know no end to back Trump. Read what other Republicans have to say, for and against, about Strange.

I did... Lots of the same ones said similar things about Trump, and turned out to be wrong in many instances.

Strange has a long track record in his state, and is supported strongly. Moore is also supported strongly.

Liar! All of your figures are wrong. BUT as we knew Obama lied his fanny off about our economy, we now have someone in the White House that has been moving us in a new direction and has made progress.

You and the rest of you liberal skunks...still stink!

They claim moral superiority, and it influences the weak minded and the young.
Trump uses the word sunnuvab***h and the lefties scream and howl. Yet, they have a fondness for Islam and c*******m.

Still Hillary would have been the worst president EVER, taking that title away from Obozo.

I'm still confident that Illiar would be a distant second worst president. Oh bahma, was trained to topple America, and the sunnuvab***h nearly did, and Illiar was to be his third term, with him helping, just down the street from the whitehouse.
Oh bahma is the biggest h**x ever perpetrated on any country at any time in history.

i am from fly over country. Never liked the conservative assholes like Sykes, our worlds did not intersect. The things of importance did not really intersect. Much from the DEMIGODS and the REPGODS could not be infuenced by my one v**e and infrequent contributions. Bottom line, their personal interests for good and bad reasons still affect me greatly. Best solution is let them know they need to look at the total country. Its a hard thing to say, we all matter, and if we can't be heard, time for a boot through b****t box or a strong third or new party to reflect those not thrilled by the current elected and unelected self appointed influencers.
What we have now is the beginning of the end for centralized group thought, and the diversity will increase. It is nice to have a place to say this without being impolite, or too rude.

Hard to say.

Hillary is all about Hillary. Hillary was pro traditional marriage when it suited her political purposes. Hillary would wear chicken feathers if that gave her power and money. Hillary would do anything to get herself richer even if it meant supporting America.

I think Obama's actual target was to Destroy America.
