I read this book when I was a young snot some 60 years ago. Fascinating reading! This should be required reading in every school. There I go again 'dreaming' of the impossible. Outside of the charter schools and 'private' schools, You won't see this in our current school system.Bearing in mind that it is the nations learning system that sets the future course of our youthful minds. Our current system is producing a piss poor crop of citizens of the new Amerika as depicted by "1984" even the timing is right.

Rather than blaming only the schools, would it not be feasible to blame it on the parents who, because they're "too busy," left the business of parenting up to the schools? As 45 has proven, it IS much easier to blame one's failings on others.

On this point you are right. I say this because I don't know where you stand. We as Americans have fallen asleep in our duties as citizens. So now what happens at the wake-up call? We simply roll over and go back to our sleep

To start pushing back against the police state, the first thing that needs to be done is to outlaw all surveillance cameras, public and private. The second thing is we need a Privacy Law.

1984 was the "acceptable year of the Lord", Isaiah 61:2, and it was proclaimed as such by the Messiah in late 1983. Jarrett Lawrence Emanuel was born on April 4, 1984. This was the exact date given by Orwell on page 6 of his novel.

I don't think that's ever going to happen. Now that Big Brother Government has become so intrusive in our lives they aren't about to relinquish anything and want to keep tabs on each and every citizen. We have a plethora of privacy laws, which are routinely ignored by City, State and Federal agency's.

Orwell is starting to look like an optimist.
