I don't know who the "we" are about whom you refer, because the people I know select a variety of sources and get the good, the bad of Americans and that is what is called news. What are your sources for what you call "news?" I was reading about some people in the Texas floods that were volunteering for rescuing other Texans and that story didn't suggest most Americans are unstable, dishonest, or immoral bullies. I think you are looking in the wrong places for the wrong information and you are finding it.
