What a nice surprise out of a state that we dont often associate with the Republican Party. Last night the Republican Councilman beat a Democratic Councilman in a race to become San Diegos next mayor. Kevin Faulconer will now be the mayor of a big city in a blue state.
The special e******n was called after the Democratic mayor was involved in a scandal where he is now serving a 90-day home-confinement sentence after pleading guilty to three charges of mistreating women.
Faulconer won the seat handily with 54.5% of the v**e. The turnout was 37%, but that is actually quite an impressive turnout for a special e******n. In his victory speech Faulconer said, This city has gone through a lot in the last year, but we knew that as San Diegans we were better than that." It seems he really has a handle on San Diego and has a lot to live up to.
Although we cannot be sure that this will be a trend in San Diego, it certainly gives us hope to see a large city turn red in a very blue state. It will be very interesting to see if this continues to be a path the state of California goes down.

As San Diego goes, so goes San Diego county. San Diego is not a bellweather for anything in California. It has always, in modern times, been the odd man out, in terms of its conservatism. San Diego is only typical of........San Diego. It has always been a navy town, with a very high percentage of retirees, military and otherwise. It shares little in common with the state's two heavyweight regions, L.A. and the Bay area.
Number of statewide offices held by Republicans remains at ZERO. The Democrats also hold the governor's office and both houses of the state legislature. San Diego carries very little weight in the rest of the state. The state's 55 e*******l v**es will remain Democratic.
As California goes, so goes the nation.
As Texas goes, so goes Mississippi.

yes thank God for those retired military they instill a wee bit of sanity to this place but there is no hope of sustaining it as there are too many brain dead liberals there, the only people that insist on being called democratic are the c*******t, as to your last statement every time you use you use a different state if you keep going you will have all of the other 57 states joining Texas
