Well, I'm out at the lake, just me, my pole, and my dog. My bait..just some night crawlers...nothing fancy. Haven't had a bite yet but doesn't really matter.
The only thing I hear is the lapping of the waves up against the shore. I'm far enough back in here, I can't even hear trucks barreling by on the highway.

Looks like there could be a storm brewin in the West. Extra dark clouds over that way.
There's a log cabin across the lake that has it's lights on now. It sits up on a hill. Bet they have a great view every day and night from up there. Still no bite.

Just got my fire going. The crackle is trying to keep up with the crickets chirping away. Seems like they haven't a care in the world. I love a fire. I could stare into it forever. The beautiful colors amaze me.

Bear finally came back from a little hunting trip of his own. Apparently, he didn't catch anything in that big mouth of his. He's telling me all about it. lol. Time for him to dry off by the fire. Seems he went for a little swim. Darn dog loves the water. If he sees a duck out there, he's gone!! Still no bite.

I know they're out there. I can hear them slappin away. Probably a bunch of catfish. I threw some chips out there earlier. Did you know catfish go into a feeding frenzy over chips? They especially like Ranch. Haaah

Maybe tonight is not the night for night crawlers. No matter. I've got my dog, my fire, and a beautiful lake. What could be better.

Here's my secret recipe for sardine dough bait.

Ingrediaents:
1 box of Wheaties cereal.
2 tins of sardines
1 bottle or can of strawberry soda pop.
1 egg

Pour a few cups of Wheaties into a mixing bowl.

Pour just enough strawberry pop to moisten the flakes.

Mix in the sardines and the egg and use a potatoe masher to get it all mixed up well.

You want the dough to be stiff so that you can make little balls of the dough.

Let the dough balls sit untill they harden a bit, preferably in the sun.

Use a small trebble hook on your line and squeeze the dough ball onto it, reshaping it into a teardrop shaped ball.

Catfish can't resist it.
