representatives and rulers

I have been thinking about the difference between a representative and a ruler. To me, a representative is someone who represents the interests and goals of a large group of people, of which the representative is a part. A ruler is someone who makes up (sometimes) crazy stuff that EVERYONE ELSE has to follow, and not necessarily them. My belief is also that a large part of what is happening in many democracies/republics around the world, usually dubbed populism or nationalism, is that the people in these nation's are tired of their elected representatives acting like rulers once they are elected.

Let me add one more thing. In the current setup in America, Politicians draw up districts and supposedly the Representative represents those people. But he might just represent 51% of those that actually v**ed. More often then not, he does not represent the other 49% or a large portion of those that didn't v**e and will ignore their interests. I can't recall when I last had a Representative that represented me. I'm Republican and live in a big Democratic city. No representative from Alderman to Mayor, to State Representative to State Senator to U. S. congressman, and now even my two U. S. senators. Only my Governor and President Trump.

Years ago in Illinois we had three Representatives from each district. In a generally Democratic district, we would still get a Republican Representative. We had someone we could go to. Now, all the way up the line, they would laugh at any comments from me because my v**e will never affect them. Pathetic.

One thought I have had on the matter was to have two Representatives from each district, and they both have weighted v**es depending on the v**es they got in the last e******n. Their pay could also be based on that with x dollars going to each district and their pay divided accordingly. Any thoughts on that?

Yes I agree. I'm also from Illinois and can remember years and years ago that only cook county was Democratic, the rest of the state was republican. I can remember in the sixties an article written about how cook county needed more money, then five or ten years or so later we got the state income tax , and I read another article a couple of years later how cook county, and the city of Chicago in greater part, got 90 percent of that money. It's why I call cities ant farms. A large population living on top of each other makes most of them whacked. Hive mentality....

I watched a show, don't remember what, that interviewed a couple of congress critters. They talked about how it is not like most of us believe. The only thing being elected gives you is a v**e when a bill comes before the full body. Membership on committees first costs money and second requires allegiance. The entire system is immensely complicated and decidedly un-democratic.

This is all part of the invisible swamp.

THAT'S why it's the swamp. The entire government is as corrupt as Hillary Clinton. All of the D and R. Pay to play is the entire game. I do remember where I saw it and it was Tucker Carlson.
