Mark chapter 4

Verse 1

With Jesus in a boat on the water, and the multitude on the shore, this formed a natural amphitheatre. Jesus voice would carry.

Verse 2 - 9

This must be the most important parable because it is the only one given and explained in three gospels.

Verse 10 - 12

This must be another important idea because it is repeated in Matthew and Luke. The more books that contain the same idea, the more important the idea. Our perception is in the hands of the supernatural.

Verse 13

This really happens. Accept that the bible is true, the facts will be revealed later.

Verse 14 & 15

The first time this happened to me, I started realizing what I was up against. Me and a co-worker were in a bible discussion and every idea he presented I debunked with scripture. Then the phone rang and he got deeply involved in the conversation. When the bible becomes real, something will divert the listeners attention.

Verse 16 & 17

If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. The God of the bible and the god in churches are different. In Revelation 21:8, the fearful are on the first train to hell. Satan has deceived the whole world. You will have some opposition.

Verse 18 & 19

Friendship with the world makes you God’s enemy. Anything that happens in this world is a care of this world. Riches and sin are deceitful.

Verse 20

Planting a garden helps you understand a lot. Good ground has been broken and had the stones removed. Weeds and grasses must be continually removed. Each plant produces a different yield.

Verse 21 - 23

No one does anything to improve himself to work a minimum wage job. We don’t go to college to work in fast food. There will be no secrets. This applies to good as well as bad. There is power in clean hands.

Verse 24 & 25

In this world there is nothing surer than the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Verse 26 - 29

The ground can be likened to our conscience. God appeals to intellect. Satan appeals to emotion.

Verse 30 - 32

Christianity started with Christ, who is one person. Christian nations help other nations. Communist, Islamic, and socialist nations can’t take care of themselves. Kim Jun Il is trying to build missiles to blow up in the United States, when North Korea can’t design a car that will drive from China to South Korea.

Verse 32 - 34

While Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables, He explained everything to His disciples.

Verse 35 - 41

Similar ideas are in Matthew and Luke. As a disciple of Christ, you will find yourself on the storm tossed seas of life. The winds will be blowing, the seas billowing, and the boat tossing and turning. But it will seem like Christ is asleep. You will ask Him to fix your situation because only He can. Your faith is being tested. If God doesn’t test your faith, how will He know it’s any good?
