Mark chapter 2

Verse 1 - 5

The faith of the man being healed is not mentioned. The faith of the four that bore him was demonstrated by their actions and impressed Jesus. Without faith, it is impossible to please Him.

Verse 6 - 12

Jesus can read minds. Jesus words come with power. But it is as easy to say one thing as another. The scribes didn’t heal anybody and had no compassion

Verse 13

Jesus said things that really mattered. He had no trouble drawing a crowd. If you can teach God’s word chapter by chapter and verse by verse, you won’t either.

Verse 14 - 17

While the great commission is given at the end of Matthew and Mark, Jesus said follow me 17 times. These accounts are in all three gospels. The bible calls them sinners like the scribes were not. We are all sinners. Christ’s blood covers our sin as well as theirs. If you think you have no sin, then you must not need Christ. You cannot look at someone and know their sin. Looking for sin in someone else makes you a finger pointer.

Verse 18 - 22

Repentance involves change. Going back to old sins is like a dog returning to eat it’s vomit. Old habits are hard to break. Don’t let sin become a habit. Your repentance is meaningless if you keep returning to old sins.

Verse 23 - 28

The Sanhedrin had no compassion and were downright cruel. The men were hungry. You can eat on the Sabbath. The account is found in 1 Samuel 21:1 - 9.
