Mueller's Latest Hire To Follow The Money?

Jack Moore, GQ Magazine

Now why would you want somebody who specializes in foreign bribery on this investigation...

As of this writing, we are currently in the middle of Donald Trump's six-thousandth instance when a portion of the news media has bought into the idea of a Donald Trump pivot. It's a never-ending loop that goes something like this: Three months or so of absolutely infuriating, hair-pulling-out, disrespectful, shameful behavior from Donald Trump and the people who work for him. This is usually followed by a major personnel change, which is in turn followed by 48 hours or so of stories about how Donald Trump is a changed man.

This, of course, only lasts until Trump reveals some new and awful bigoted policy change that seemingly exists exclusively to hurt a minority group, or until he insults a world leader for no reason, or until he's hungry one night and McDonald's is closed so his only choice is to go on an unhinged Twitter rant. It's a vicious cycle that we seem doomed to repeat over and over again until 2020, or until Trump gets us into a nuclear war because he's mad at something Mika and Joe said. But there's hope! Because as we continue going through this cycle over and over again, Special Counsel Robert Mueller is deep in an investigation into Donald Trump's (seemingly endless) connections to Russia and his (impossible-to-deny) attempts to obstruct justice by firing James Comey and attempting to pressure Jeff Sessions out so he can fire Mueller himself. Trump has even explicitly tried to limit the investigation by warning Mueller in the media not to go after his financial interests. Which is why the news of Mueller's latest hire should terrify the president.

Greg Andres started on Tuesday, becoming the 16th lawyer on the team, said Josh Stueve, a spokesman for the special counsel.

Most recently a white-collar criminal defense lawyer with New York law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell, Andres, 50, served at the Justice Department from 2010 to 2012. He was deputy assistant attorney general in the criminal division, where he oversaw the fraud unit and managed the program that targeted illegal foreign bribery.

So, the investigation into Donald Trump just added an expert on illegal foreign bribery. I wonder why. You don't think that Trump was warning Mueller against going into his finances because there's something damning there, do you? Nah. Couldn't be. Donald Trump wouldn't lie to us.

Nah, I doubt I've even flipped through GQ more than a couple of times in my life. But, it is an article that will draw comments from different perspectives. That has always been a purpose of my thread posts. After all, OPP should not be an echo chamber, but about discussion from different perspectives.

I just posted a thread of a different color...'Barry Sadler's Tour Of Duty,' an article I took out the VVA Veteran's magazine. It was worth reading...to me, at least. Lord knows those of our generation remember 'The Ballad Of The Green Beret.'

Yes I remember Sargent Sadler's song. I rubbed shoulders with those fellas a few times while both in country
and later , stateside. More than a cut above . I remember a couple of them vividly . Very unique and very well
qualified on several levels .
