Donald Trump has long claimed that Obamacare is behind rising healthcare premiums in America. But an op-ed published by U.S. News & World Report, reveals what we've long suspected: premiums are actually rising because of Republicans.

J. Mario Molina, a former health insurance CEO, just exposed the right-wing plan to sabotage the Affordable Care Act and force Trumpcare on the nation. And he's not pulling any punches.


Molina takes dead aim at the GOP's actions against Obamacare, and eviscerates their scare tactics. Terms like death spiral,he says, let Republicans claim that they need to pass a bill, no matter how terrible.

But we now know that this argument simply is not true. And thanks to the Congressional Budget Office, we also know just how bad Trumpcare will be for the nation.


But of course, instead of coming up with a better bill, the GOP would rather cut the current law off at the knees. They don't have a better idea than Obamacare, so they just have to somehow make it look worse than Trumpcare.

Republicans have engaged in what Molina calls sneak attacks against the ACA, which have only grown more underhanded since Trump took office. Marco Rubio, for example, eliminated funding to control premiums, but blamed Obamacare when insurers left the market in response.

And Trump's own Department of Health and Human services has only tried to destroy Obamacare since January. At the end of the open enrollment period, the Trump White House pulled ALL advertising for the program.

Now, Trump and the DHS are refusing to say whether they'll pay insurance companies what they're owed under the current law. Insurers need to know that they'll receive money for cost-sharing programs that keep premiums low for the most vulnerable patients.

But Trump and his administration may break their commitments, which the Kaiser Family Foundation estimates could result in a 19 percent increase in premium costs. That's not a death spiral, that's sabotage.

Give it any name you want--Obamacare, Trumpcare, Whocares, Idontcare--the bottom line, Penny, is that government mandated "health care" always has been, is now, and always will be a disaster. Socialized health care puts every citizen's medical care in the hands of government bureaucrats, not in the hands of doctors and medical professionals. Government bureaucrats will decide who qualifies for medical treatment, what medical treatment a patient will receive, or whether he or she receives it at all.

Government mandated health care may provide coverage for everyone, but the cost will increase and the quality of medical treatment will decline immeasurably. A recent and tragic example of this is the case of 11 month old Charlie Gard, the baby of a British couple. The Brit bureaucrats refused to allow Charlie's parents to bring their son to the US where an experimental treatment is available which could possibly have saved his life.

Obviously, it isn't just seniors who should "beware", it is everyone.
