Dispute with Mr. Bombastic

Mr Bombastic has published attacks on my religion (Catholicism) in the Main political forum. I have responded to his and other individual's posts and posted new material, also in Main.

I received notification from Admin that one of my posts has been moved from Main to Chit Chat. I have protested this move as follows:

"I fail to understand why my defense of Catholicism is move tio chit chat when Mr Bombastic's scurriliois attacks are permitted to remnain in Main political commentary. Kindly provide me with an explanation or apply your rules in a uniform manner. I am replying in the same forum as the gratuitous attacks on my religion occurred and I don't appreciate being trivialized by this move."

I am waiting to see if this is going to result in censorship of me or an affirmation of Bombast's Catholic hatred. I was of the opinion the Bombasts posts were in the wrong forum but in as much as his attacks were permitted I responded in the same manner.

Update, all four sections of my post have been moved

It appears his attacks were also shifted to Chit Chat.

They were. Which begs the question. Why were similar posts moved from Chit Chat to the main forum? I wish they'd make up their mind.

Gratuitous attacks? I think not. I have posted some of the teachings of the Catholic Church, and showed, through Scripture, how they are wrong. Feel free to provide Scripture that says otherwise.

Three quotes from Mark Twain that seem pertinent

"So much blood has been shed by the Church because of an omission from the Gospel: "Ye shall be indifferent as to what your neighbor's religion is." Not merely tolerant of it, but indifferent to it. Divinity is claimed for many religions; but no religion is great enough or divine enough to add that new law to its code."- Mark Twain, a Biography

"We despise all reverences and all the objects of reverence which are outside the pale of our own list of sacred things. And yet, with strange inconsistency, we are shocked when other people despise and defile the things which are holy to us."

"The easy confidence with which I know another man's religion is folly teaches me to suspect that my own is also. I would not interfere with any one's religion, either to strengthen it or to weaken it. I am not able to believe one's religion can affect his hereafter one way or the other, no matter what that religion may be. But it may easily be a great comfort to him in this life--hence it is a valuable possession to him."- Mark Twain, a Biography

Wise sayings Slat. I am quite willing to let everyone choose whichever handbasket they want to sail into hell on and all I ask is that they refrain from these evil, insidious, slanders masquerading as facts. In t***h, the Bible has to be taken with a very large grain of salt because we just don't understand the idiom and experts are forever revising their opinions as the the meaning of various texts or the t***slation of specific wording. There has been more change in interpretation in the last fifty years than there was in the prior 1500 years.

Absolute literalism such as is expounded by the more fanatical posters here is ridiculous. There is no way we can interpret, to perfection, the idiomatic expressions and allusions of 2,000 years ago.

As far as the evil actions of Churchmen, they were a product of their times and unfortunately they were as corrupt and evil as the secular Princes. I have no intention of defending their idiocies nor do I accept any guilt for what they did. It is what it is. Henry the eighth established an apostate religion to satisfy his dynastic needs and went so far as to have wives executed to acquire new ones. Head of the Church, Defender of the Faith, et cetera et cetera. They were all SOB's from my viewpoint.

I often refer to the wisdom of minds greater than mine, to include Mark Twain's and others.
