In California, the EBT (which stands for electronic benefits transfer) card has both cash and food stamps if the recipient is on General Assistance or GA for short. However, if the recipient is on SSI or Social Security, then he or she will only receive food stamps, called CalFresh in California.
One benefit is state and the other federal, so the $$ from federal does not go on the state card.
A person collects state assistance prior to qualifying for SSI not after.
