For your information, being a firefighter is a paid job. Those who become firefighters do so for the money and the life style. They don't do it to help people.

The problem is that after waiting for decades, no progress towards peace has been made because of Palestinian insistence on destroying the Jewish state through the peace process. This is done by:giving any and all Palestinians the right of return.
making Jerusalem the capital of Palestine.
insisting on borders for Israel that are indefensible
persecuting Jews in Palestinian areas.
vandalizing, or destroying Jewish Holy sights in Palestinian areas.
Time is running out for any kind of state for the Palestinians. Up until now, Hamas has refused any peace process. As long as Hamas insists on the destruction of Israel by force, there is nothing to talk about.
The PA is a corrupt traditional government. Abbas preaches peace, but gives an income to the families of suicide bombers.

As far as I know, most jobs are paying jobs. What's the point of having a job, if it doesn't pay you something? That said, if money was the sole motivator, why would anyone take a job that required extreme physical, mental and emotional exertion while working in a life threatening environment? There are safe, cushy jobs like yours where you can sit on your ass and spew h**e and lies on the internet 24/7. FYI: 70% of the firefighters in the US are VOLUNTEERS.

Do you have any idea what it was like at 2am, 10 below zero in the dead of winter, to roll up to the scene of a burning home, fire enveloping the entire ground floor, an almost naked hysterical mother on the street screaming that her children were trapped on the second floor? Can you imagine what it was like to rush up a ladder to a second floor window, smash it in and get blasted with heat and smoke but you go in anyway cuz there are kids in there? Can you imagine what it was like in there, unable to see your hand in front of your face, working against time, the heat bearing down on you, going by feel alone, sweeping every nook and cranny with your arms, searching for the kids? Can you imagine how we felt when we got them out, both nearly suffocated by smoke, one not breathing, both blistered by the heat, and how we felt when, several hours later, the hospital reported the kids would be okay?

Imagine how we felt when 5 or 6 weeks later a family shows up at our fire house, a mother and father with a 5 year old boy and a 7 year old girl, and the little girl hands our captain a bouquet of flowers and says, "Thank you, mister fireman."

That was a breath taking moment in our careers, it was a moment of immense joy, relief, and some tears. It was one of those special times that confirmed why we became firefighters. I'll never forget that as long as I live.
