At $3 billion+ aid a year, the largest single recipient of US aid, Israel is the best ally money can buy. That's why, after the Chinese and Russian, Israel operates the biggest spy ring within the United States.

God's chosen people? This is the basis for our support? My guess is that such support would be against the constitutional prohibition against using the US government to establish a religion.

And those that bless the Jewish people are blessed? Is this your religious views or a political statement?

Israel once provided the US with a huge service, on-the-ground intel assets in the Soviet Union. We only learned of what was going on in Moscow back in the 1950s due to Russian Jews working for Mossad.

That job is long gone and Israel only further hampers efforts for an even foreign policy in the Middle East by amassing a huge nuclear arsenal to which it will not submit to any treaty or inspection or even admit to it's well known existence. And it's continued expansion on the West Bank in violation of US and international law.

But Israel is still there for it's $3+ billion every year., 25% of all US foreign aid, despite aid stipulations about limiting West Bank Settlements, which Israel routinely ignores. .

And we are continually told by the far right Christian fundamentalists that US support for Israel is "blessed." A sleigh ride to the Second Coming.

Except religious doctrine has no place in US foreign policy.

You can testify to that as what? A US citizen. looking out for the best interests of the US or as a religious fanatic using government policy to advance a religious belief?

Hey, Hungry, can you tell me as much as you know about the creation of Israel in 1947 or 8? It might be very interesting to see what you know about that. I well remember a lot about it since I was a sophomore or junior in high school when it all came about and paid a lot of attention to it. I really looked it up once the movie about them moving to their promised land. I would be very interested to see what one so erudite as you has learned about that situation.

Now don't tell me what progressives say unless you recognize that they are trying to rewrite history about that period, but surely do tell me.

Boy, youse guys are really running those words from Harry Truman into the ground. When will any of you see the other side's views so we can debate them? Yes, those words talk about both sides seeing the others' views. I know that progs think that conservatives must see them but when does if go both ways like Truman said.

It should be, but sometimes isn't. When it turns to name calling then there is no point carrying on the conversation. That's what I think anyway. Sometimes things get pretty out of hand on here.

I'd like to know what it says about scaring the jews to death. I don't know how much more scared they could be, tho, with the whole world against them. I mean, even the U.S. has turned against them. They were one of our best allies. I am a strong supporter of the jews. I know they are God's chosen people. And those that bless the Jewish people are blessed. I can testify to that. So, will you post it to me?

Harry Truman was a Democrat when they stood up for this country, so unlike the dumbohcraps of today that want nothing more than for the working class to support those that won't work, and support the radical muslim terrorists at our expense....

I disagree with very little Truman ever said right up to the time he fired McArthur for wanting to cross the Manchurian border to get at the fast running NK army. I stopped agreeing with him at that point but when they stopped the Chinese and NKs came roaring back and ran the whole damned army into the China Sea and that really made me wonder. You win wars by attacking the enemy and you nearly always lose when you let them regroup and come roaring back with help.

You guys using the same words of Truman over and over tell me nothing other than you must think he only said one thing worth repeating. Didn't he popularize the old saying, "The buck stops here?"
