Dr. Hanson lays out ver clearly why we should worry about the extinction of the middle class America - and pretty much tells us why, without mentioning them at all, the tea party folks are the only political movement with true hope for the middle class

From what I've heard on the news, the retreat of the GOP discussed the necessity of becoming the party "of alternatives" not the "opposition." I've heard all the charges that Obama is a minion of satan. But few solutions of their own.
One example: 60-something percent of Americans think the wage disparity should be closed and the minimum wage should be raised. How can the GOP oppose raising the minimum wage and say they represent the majority of Americans? One talking head on CNN said the minimum wage should not be raised so people can learn the value of hard work.
Saying wage disparity is not a problem is simply not facing reality. If it is a problem, then what is the GOP solution. It isn't name calling the president.

I can only conclude that you didn't read Dr. Hanson's article -

As to wage disparity, don't you think it necessary to define the cause of the problem before offering a solution?

As to minimum wage, do you really think that any private employer can pay wages above the market value of the work performed?

I'd suggest your read Dr. Hanson's article - perhaps from that you might get a better idea of the core problem.

What is your definition of wage disparity and what is your solution? I'm surprised its only 60%. When you ask people if they should have more money because someone else has more than they do I would expect a lot of people to say yes. I'm not one of them. Minimum Wage hurts some people and helps others.

I am an employer, its a small family business established in 1969 and right now we are barely surviving, we've gone from a 15 person full time work force in the last 6 years down to the 5 key people, husband stopped paying himself 2 years ago because we could not make payroll, taxes and bills due to payroll taxes with his salary in there and he was only paying himself $75K per year with NO BENEFITS. We lost health insurance about the same time because we only had 5 full time employees as one of the owners I'm not included either is he. We have a factory in what is now the Hispanic ghetto gang stronghold of Chicago.. but we pay over $30K a year in property taxes for nothing.. I can't wait until Obama care starts to fine us.. our few remaining employees are all over 50 these men have been with the company from the start ..and they are the backbone of the business. We cannot afford to hire anyone sales are so dismal and we cannot afford the payroll taxes. We are or were all middle middle class and one of the few Made 100% in the USA products left in this country where all of the materials needed for our product come out of US companies for woods and metals, all our fabricators for parts are locally in Chicago or Suburban.. we've kept it 100% USA while our competition sold out to China and gets all kinds of perks from Chicago and the Feds... they are Corporate World and get those perks .. we have survived this long fighting it out as best we can. There is not a democrat or republican in this state that have helped or even offered to. The best we got was we were in a TIF district and could borrow money to expand a low interest rate.. when we applied we were told there is one tiny area not included and that is the area of the main street where we are located. How nice.. There is no one in Congress that cares presently nor do the last 4 presidents .. its all about getting wealthy on the back of others.. best thing that could happen is Congress is bombed while they a re in session.

That would be true, if the tea party had maintained their original agenda. In case you haven't noticed, the TP has begun it's own whoring with big money. Believing that once elected, they would drop their sponsors, is the same belief people had for dems. and repubs. years ago. Tea party believers will have their hopes dashed too.

Your minders, failing with the racial accusations of the tea party, then failing with the anti-American accusations have now resorted to they're the big money folks.

Show us your evidence - show us where the tea party has anyone like Soros or Pritzker supporting them. If you want to use the Koch Brothers meme, check out who they are and what they stand for - or better yet, remain ignorant and easily manipulated - it might make you more comfortable.

What is about paying wages at or above the poverty level that scares you people? Can't afford it sounds like cop-out, as the prices keep rising regardless of the economy.

Do you dispute this simple reality, no private employer can pay a wage above the value of the work performed (with the exception of the government that can use force in attaining revenues)?
What is about reality the people like you find impossible to understand?

Its not about paying wages artificially set. Have you ever run a business or been self -employed? Most businesses pay above minimum wage. However; we have i***ts on the left calling for entry level wages at $20.00 an hour. If you think prices are rising now go ahead and up the minimum wage. Under contract a lot of workers making well above minimum wage get the same percentage raise when the minimum wage goes up. No matter what they are making presently. Your statements are a typical knee-jerk progressive attitude. Before you say what feels good you might want to sit on your brains and think it through. Ask seniors with a fixed income how upping the minimum wages effects their life style.

It does not scare most business owners but what it does is put the small self employed companies out of business because we cannot compete with the mega corporations. Maybe you should walk in our shoes before taking the attitude you do at us. When was the last time YOU went without a paycheck to keep your employees paid each week huh ? I bet never

I'm comfortable either way. They are ALL crooks and whores. There are always going to be simple minded folk that can't see the forest for the trees. That's THEIR problem, not mine.

You sound anything but comforatable - yet remarkably arrogant that only you know what's going on - after showing how little you really know about the tea party. You are correct on one point - your problem is far different.
