Marijuana: The Embarrassment of Riches
by Paul Brinkman

Recently, many states v**ed to allow for marijuana as a medicine, and some even for recreational use. Perhaps lawmakers have figured that the old position on pot, a harmless plant, to be hypocritical; while allowing free use of such poisons as alcohol and tobacco.

Pot is a plant, which grows freely (and “free”) out of the ground. It is well known that smoking it creates a calming, soothing euphoria, and with all the negativity in the world, it is just a wonderful thing. It is an emotional salve, and takes away the dreariness of a long week. So outlawing it, while allowing for alcohol and tobacco, is not only nonsensical, but inhumane.

It is potentially also a great spiritual sacrament. While outside in nature, alone, and with no distractions, one’s ordinary thoughts and perceptions seem to become de-emphasized, and one’s inner imagination activates and connects up, in a strange way, with the incoming barrage on the senses.

With no distractions, like friends or music, an unknown mode of communication/understanding seems to kick in. One can become more aware of the land layout and critter activity. Animals seem to have communicative intent and intelligence, and Nature Herself seems alive and responsive. Even forgotten dreams come to mind, and have relevance. Pot expands consciousness, and can reveal to us a more natural kind of spirituality.

I would even say that one experiences what it means to be a non-physical being, in a spiritually-imbued,
3-D world.

Therefore, pot could become an incredible tool for improving our personal lives, without the need of great sums of money. In fact, POT IS THE EMBARRASSMENT OF RICHES. In this age of omnipresent trivia and dumbed-down shallowness, HOW DARE they allow us one, sole, recreational drug—of getting slobbering drunk.

The current obesity epidemic is NOT due to pot use.

Try schools being defunded of such things as phys.ed.
