The sentence I hear most from well-meaning, conservative friends since President Trump’s e******n is this: “We suffered 8 years under Barack Obama.”

Fair enough. Let’s take a look.

The day Obama took office, the Dow closed at 7,949 points. Eight years later, the Dow had almost tripled, closing at 21,414.

General Motors and Chrysler were on the brink of bankruptcy, with Ford not far behind, and their failure, along with their supply chains, would have meant the loss of millions of jobs. Obama pushed through a controversial, $8o billion bailout to save the car industry. The U.S. car industry survived, started making money again, and the entire $80 billion was paid back, with interest.

While we remain vulnerable to lone-wolf attacks, no foreign terrorist organization has successfully executed a mass attack here since 9/11.

Obama ordered the raid that k**led Osama Bin Laden.

He drew down the number of troops from 180,000 in Iraq and Afghanistan to just 15,000, and increased funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

He launched a program called Opening Doors which, since 2010, has led to a 47 percent decline in the number of homeless veterans.

He set a record 73 straight months of private-sector job growth.

Due to Obama’s regulatory policies, greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 12%, production of renewable energy more than doubled, and our dependence on foreign oil was cut in half.

He signed The Lilly Ledbetter Act, making it easier for women to sue employers for unequal pay.

His Omnibus Public Lands Management Act designated more than 2 million acres as wilderness, creating thousands of miles of trails and protecting over 1,000 miles of rivers.

He reduced the federal deficit from 9.8 percent of GDP in 2009 to 3.2 percent in 2016.

For all the inadequacies of the Affordable Care Act, we seem to have forgotten that, before the ACA, you could be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition and kids could not stay on their parents’ policies up to age 26.

Obama approved a $14.5 billion system to rebuild the levees in New Orleans.

All this, even as our own Mitch McConnell famously asserted that his singular mission would be to block anything President Obama tried to do.

While Obama failed on his campaign pledge to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, that prison’s population decreased from 242 to around 50.

He expanded funding for embryonic stem cell research, supporting groundbreaking advancement in areas like spinal injury treatment and cancer.

Credit card companies can no longer charge hidden fees or raise interest rates without advance notice.

Most years, Obama threw a 4th of July party for military families. He held babies, played games with children, served barbecue, and led the singing of “Happy Birthday” to his daughter Malia, who was born on July 4.

Welfare spending is down: for every 100 poor families, just 24 receive cash assistance, compared with 64 in 1996.

Obama comforted families and communities following more than a dozen mass shootings. After Sandy Hook, he said, “The majority of those who died today were children, beautiful little kids between the ages of 5 and 10 years old.”

Yet, he never took away anyone’s guns.

He sang Amazing Grace, spontaneously, at the altar.

He was the first president since Eisenhower to serve two terms without personal or political scandal.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

President Obama was not perfect, as no man and no president is, and you can certainly disagree with his political ideologies. But to say we suffered?

If that’s the argument, if this is how we suffered for 8 years under Barack Obama, I have one wish: may we be so fortunate as to suffer 8 more exactly like it.

Kankune,

Don`t you think it looks well on him??

Honest, I could give you a list of things I do not like about him or rather about what his policies were. But we see more than ample slamming of President Obama, for all 8 years and even today when he in no longer in office..

Of course it does. He thinks he's a God. He needs to go away, he came close to bringing this country to its knees. Why doesn't he just stay away, keep spending his time with his high rollers? After all he came out of the WH worth millions. Millions of our money that is. He needs to bug off and let us try and fix this country. Just sayin..

Keep your fond memories of your busom buddy Obammy to yourself.

He had his fifteen minutes of fame and I'm glad that you and your other good old busom buddy, ( Raylan Goober Wolfe ) got your jollies while he was dancing his jig in the Whitehouse.

But there's a new Sheriff in town now boys.

And you two spooks had better watch yer' Ps and Qs.

Yap, howl, complain and foam at the mouth in your usual dejected fashion.

But remember that thrashing you spooks took in the e******n and come up with something better than the Clinton Pig next time.

Adios....................................PUNKS !

1). Ever look at the stock market historically? It had to go up. Why so far? Because wh**ever little boom the economy got was due to artificially low Fed rates. Only place you could put your money and hope for a nice return was the market.
2). The bond holders, some successful car lot owners, and many supply chains got screwed because the Obama administration decided to pick winners and losers. Bankruptcy for business many times does not mean the end of the business. Many times it means restructuring and running things more efficiently. Actually the entire 80 was not paid back.
3). No major attacks since 9/11. O.K. who you giving that credit to?
4). Congrats on Bin Laden. To bad he couldn't decide that four lives in B******i were more important than his foreign policy narrative.
5). Great moves on the draw down. Indirectly responsible for at least a half a million deaths. We left, and bad guys filled in from Libya to Syria. Obama's leading from behind was a disaster.
6). If he did what you say for veterans then good. I just know the VA system remained a quagmire under his administration.
7). Set a record of private growth. You might want to look at the internals of those numbers. The longest period of growth below 3% in modern history. More businesses closing than opening. Fulltime work being replaced by part time work.
8). Stupid and costly regulations to reduce green house gases while the biggest producers in the world got a pass. As a side note NOAA admitted they've been fudging the numbers on g****l w*****g. They also know it doesn't matter to you c*****e c****e lemmings because it is your religion.
9). Reduced the Federal Deficient? Seen the national debt under him?
10). The rest of your comments are pure l*****t drivel.
One thing you have proven over and over. You, personally and probably most liberals in general will give up freedoms for your liberal causes. Your liberal leaders such as Gore, Sanders, Obama and the Clinton's have been making fools of you for years. Notice who Obama hangs out with? Ever see any of them reduce their personal carbon footprint? Remember though, he feels your pain and is down with the people. I do believe you are a true believer. You will gladly suffer under tyranny so your stupid ideology gets implemented. What ever happened to the American that could live his life, form his opinions without the government telling him how and what?

As for the car industry, the only one's that made a profit was the union members of Delphi were given taxpayer money to top out the pensions of those workers. The subsidies to the unions cost the taxpayers 30 Billion. The union members did not have to take a pay cut. The treasury Dept. figured that the bail out would cost the taxpayer about 19 billion dollars in the end. In 2006 General Motors paid the union workers $70.51 per hour plus benefits. The auto czar had more owners of dealerships closed down, that were Republican contributors and some had a profitable business and fewer dealerships owned by Democratic contributors were forced to close down. Untold number of stock holders lost all of the money they had in shares, I believe I heard that at the time that the bail out was in progress.
As for Obama sing happy birthday to his daughter, I believe almost all dads do that also.
As for political scandals, you seem to forget the Lois Lerner episode at the IRS and B******i are only two of the ones that were in the news the most. His peace prize was for extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. I guess that meant bowing to Islamic heads of states of government.
He has set this country on a course toward socialism and more racial divide where that divide had grown more narrow before he took office. What major bills did the Republicans block during his first four years? How fast did they confirm Obama's appointees? I believe they confirmed most of his appointees at a much faster rate than the Democrats are confirming the appointees of Trump.
Welfare cash benefits are only one of the benefits welfare recipients receive.
As for the federal deficit, it increased about ten Trillion during his term from about 10 Trillion to almost 20 Trillion.
We left Iraq and that is when ISIS was born. Obama had made it his major point in his run for the White House and we know how that ended, when we left.
How many jobs did his shovel ready jobs program produce? I believe not as many as most of us had hoped for.
The federal debt went from about 60% of GDP for 2008 to about 105% of GDP in 2016. That is about a 45% rise in 8 years. The 2009 budget was not approved by Congress until Obama entered office.

Thanks. Perm seems like a lot of liberals. He's a believer in the ideals his liberal leaders espouse. But the very people he follows wouldn't give him a crumb off their table if he was starving. They would convince him the right thing to do is give up his crumbs or better yet take from someone else who they deem has enough and give to someone else they deem doesn't have enough.
